What are my options? I currently have a stock 20 w/ a FMIC, exhaust, bc etc. I know everyone is saying to go w/ like a 50-trim T3/T4, but is that enough? My goal is like 450+rwhp. I've seen on the Austrailian Skyline boards where they use the HKS T04E kit. Does anyone know what kind of hp and tq that kit makes or if the kit is even obtainable? I can't find any info on it anywhere. And what kind of standalone is everyone going with? Has anyone done a standalone system on an RB20? Thanks,

~Tony

BTW, I do know what a search button is so don't gimme that :)

I know you said you did a search, but (don't take this the wrong way... just giving you a direction to search) do a search for WDRacing (username) and RB20 or RB20DET. He was putting out that kind of power with a 20. Be sure to understand that this will not be a street friendly setup. The 20 has a low volumetric flow rate due to it's low displacement, so the velocities needed to spool a large turbo will only come with high RPM's... aka lag (off boost power will suffer... I think he was only running 8.2CR or something). This was your car not mine WD... so feel free to correct me. I think you were using the T04E he spoke of on your setup as well... right?

If you are like me and just like this motor and want this hp goal (mine is not that high)... then go for it. However, if you are just looking for 450rwhp out of an RB then you might want to look into a 25 or a 26.

With the larger displacement it will be a much more streetable power band than that same output on a 20. You might want to look into a GT30R or GT35R to reach those power goals (GT30R might come just short of the 450rwhp mark).

This is only my opinion... so take it only as such... hopefully it helps you out some.

I definitely think it is possible... streetable is a different story. Switching to the BB 16v_10 from the 16v_12 non BB turbo that use to be on Hybrids car really opened my eyes to how nice it is to have a smooth progression of power.

Thank you for the responses. I basically want something I can drive everyday if I wanted to. I don't want to spend more than $5k on the new setup. Does anyone sell the power fc for the 20? I don't know much about the HKS GT30R, but it's ball bearing right? So what kind of spool time does it have? I have considered going w/ the 25, but I think I want to stay w/ the 20 just because no one around here knows what it is. And if they do, they say "oh, that's the ****tier one". So yeah, I've already got a set of 550's, so I just need a new turbo, engine management, and I guess a new manifold. Does anyone even make a new manifold for it? Or can I just run a spacer w/ an extension for the external wastegate? I'm running an mbc right now, but I am ordering a profec b. Thanks again.

The GT30R is a Garrett turbo, which is a lot cheaper than a HKS unit. I would imagine you would start seeing boost around 3300, which is when the motor starts making the lowest flow on the compressor map (~6.X lbs/min). If you called around you could probably find out a more solid figure, or maybe someone else here on the board could confirm or correct this number since I am just guessing.
