rb20 speed sensor wiring

hey iam running a rb20 in my s13.

there are 4 wires from the gearbox, 2 i have hooked up the the reverse light. the other two do they go straight to ecu pins, for vehicle speed senor ? and a sensor ground also on the ecu.

currently its hooked up to a rev speed meter, and gets no reading. one being plugged to the rev speed meter (signal) and other i just grounded straight to battery ? should this work or does the ground have to go to the signal ground pin on the ecu ?
