rb20 running rough now. help please!!!

i finally got my rb20 started but i have a few problems. 1. the rpm gauge is'nt working and everything is hooked up behind the cluster.

2. Smoke coming from engine bay. (not alot but its coming from around the turbo area).

3. Car boggs when giving it gas.

i had the same 3 issues when i started my RB25...Its all just little bugs that need to be ironed out with any engine swap. I'll tell you what fixed my issues, but, they might not be the same for your car. But at least its something to try...

1. Did you wire the harness up yourself? If so, check your wiring...maybe a pin is off. I fixed my problem by getting a new tachometer. My tachometer was faulty.

2. Did you paint anything on the engine near the turbo? I had some smoke coming from the turbo because I had painted it black and some of the paint burned off. Also the wire from the MAF adaptor was laying on the turbo (gets extrememly hot) and burned alittle of the tape off of the harness...

3. Check to make sure there are NO Vacuum leaks or exhaust leaks. I had a few of them, also my TPS was faulty. Are you using the stock MAF?

Also is everything stock on your RB20? No mods at all?

i'll try those tips out thanks.the tach i'll check wiring but ya i'm using stock ka tach.the smoke no i did'nt paint anything but there could be wiring down there that i didn't need.the bogg ya a have a open vacuum line that i'm not sure where it goes.(its the one on the intake manifold not going to the bov)
