So, my RB20DET was in really good shape when I bought it. Ran fine, internals were clean, compression was good....and then a few weeks ago I noticed a power loss in the higher RPM range. Now, when I crank the car, it idles a bit rough, and it also will not rev over 2500 RPM. When it hits 2500, it will die back down to idle speed. If I hold the throttle down, it just does this over and over. A friend of mine suggested that the turbo was overboosting, causing fuel cut. I don't have the equipment to test it myself, so I wanted to know if anyone could help me out before I spent the money to take it to the shop. Anyone got any ideas?

maf all the way!! even if that goes away at idle. You'll soon find that it will just sputter and die on you while coming to a stop. Good luck bro. Get a new one.

If you can get your hands on another MAF to test it out first, do so.One of the wires may have broken inside the insulation or in the clip, and if you can save yourself the $$ then borrow one.

I gotta disagree with the others and say it's the AFM, not the MAF
