Before u guys tell me i search and all i found was one guy with the same problem on a ka.I tried what they told him but still doesnt work.So my problem is i just intalled my rb20det in my 90 s13 hatch 5 spd.I got the wiring done by tophat performance now every time i connect the battery and turn the ignition the starter just clicks and my lights in the cluster dime.I got a good battery also if i try and connect the starter the other way the starter goes off and if i turn the ignition while the starter is on the car starts but shuts off and the starter stays on.

Any help would be great thanks in advance.

good old Fontucky, Your starter might be bad or your not getting good contact with the battery post. did you put a volt meter on the battery yet to see if it really is good enough to start the car?

Perhaps you have bad ground?

Check the wiring from the negative terminal of the battery... Should connect to the chassis underneath the battery tray... hopefully it's not rusted or corroded down there. That wire should then continue and wire into the block itself to provide a ground for the engine.

next guess would be that your post connections are bad... are they corroded or bad? Try getting some shiney new post connectors... Then at least you'll know those are fine.

i definatly say clean youre cables, i have been throught that exact thing, you would think it its toughing its goos enough, my cable was dirty where the actual cable(wire) connects to the battery teminal(if that makes any sense), i had a good battery, had it tested and everything, and it happend from one day to the next, one day it was fine, next day click, click. i started freaking out on where the hell i waas going to find a started for an rb20....

How well is your negative grounded? Did you grind/sand away all the paint before attaching it? I've seen that before..

Just making sure..

updateokay well i switched the grounds ,added grounds and cleaned them,i got a new battery replace the relays, and triple checked the wiring, and nothing, all it would do is click upon trying to start it, so i went and got a volt tester and of course i got power going to the starter thru the postive cable, and i got a good ground so i unplugged the black and yellow wire and tested it with the volt tester, so my friend cranked the car and i tested it and yup i got power , dont know if its 12volts but i gets power when u push the clutch and turn the key.so do u guys think i need a new starter or redo all grounds and add more?btw i read that rb starters breakdown easily .please help.

umm i'm not sure but it kinda sounds like the starter soleniod not working.

The starter soleniod is like a heavy duty relay. That's the click your probably hearing.Sort of the like the relays clicking in the car.try to see if you can jump the starter solenoid.Your car should start then, if it is the problem.
