OK so I'm totally new to the car. Gotten to know the car pretty well after working the kinks out (new alternator water pump fuel filter)the car still ran awful so I guess right on cleaning the mafs and it ran good but not perfect. Bought the z32 mafs oops not plug and play.. duh. OK so I figured might as well tune the car now since I need a decent tuning setup for more horses that I want in the near future. I could pick up the maxima mafs to be driveable but with wanting the up the boost to about 11 or 12 add bigger injectors and ignition coils and I was guessing the emanage ultimate. All those mods I would need a tune anyway so why go back right? I guess my question is the greddy emanage my best option? Any advice on the setup?

I have the e-manage and it has some great features, however I think would be over kill for only 11-12 psi. If you are just starting out tuning, I would recommend nistune. Its a little but cheaper, and very user friendly. If you are not interested in tuning and /or don't have anyone that can tune your car I would rec getting a jwt or e-mance rom tune. The emu is freaking awsome though once you get the hang of it and I think i am the only person on here that is pretty familiar with its ins and outs. I've played with the apexi and it too is pretty user friendly but again, I think is over kill for only 10-12 psi. The stock ecu can handle that just fine. As for the z32 maf, I am now at 23 psi and still have more to squeeze out of this maf. Id get a wideband and turn the boost up with all your stock stuff and just monitor your afr for that boost level.

I'm having the car tuned by my local dyno shop for sure. I for sure will not be doing the tuning itself. I'm going for fast and reliable.is overkill bad in this case? For now I'm going with 12 lbs but in the future wouldn't I need something like the emanage anyway?

If you want to squeeze more out of it then yes, emanage, nistune, apexi etc would be beneficial. I really like the emanage because the features it has, pick your maf, injectors engine.... And you should be able to baby it down to the shop on it's base tune (if you upgraded stuff, if not than you can take it down to them and key them upgrade the maf, injectors etc before the dyno) where the e-manage is especially good is how I have my car setup. I have my regular computer base tuned for my setup and the e-manage to dial everything in that way if my battery ever dies (which it did once already) I can still drive my car on the base tune which is nice because you don't have to bring your laptop out to the car and resend it the tune you have saved right away. Where the emu really shines is the fact that its not sending your stock ecu a false signal to adjust the settings. It reads what is coming in, and simply adds or subtracts from your fuel our timing directly. (so much better than the safc!) Also a built in launch control with timing adjustment (pretty much anti lag) you can also control a vtec or nitrious solenoid. The list goes on. (you can also delete your maf) the choice is yours my friend. The most reliable setup is probably a rom tune but again is not really tuned for your specific vehicle.
