so i know the RB20 lacks torque but i want to build a badass RB20.

theres this guy http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-c ... udget.html

and a few other guys. I have a Z31 and i have a RB20 running in the Z31 but not driving yet. i want to really make it move, i'm adding some 3.90 gears maybe 4.11 in the future.

my biggest concern is if i need to pass someone it will be slower then a neon and not be able to pass, also a lot of times with my old VG30ET in the Z i would drive around between 1-2k rpms around the city. :ohno: my VG was pretty impressive but i changed because technology and more room i can actually make power with A/C and many more things.

the only concern i have is torque. it really concerns me.

I am looking for daily drivable car and a nice track motor too, my goal is around 400rwhp but i will keep the top mount manifold for torque.

It makes absolutely no sense to start with the smallest motor if your goal is torque. There are people that disagree but physics is something that you will have trouble arguing with. Finish the RB20 swap and then stick a 25 in there (at least) when it's time to upgrade.

I have over 400whp in my RB20 but I only make 283lbs of TQ. I don't see full boost till 5300ish and I make peak power @ 8000 where my rev limiter is. Below that my car feels like a stock KA24DE as far as power goes. For me I don't mind since I drive like a old man when I'm going around town. If I were to go road racing I'd prob go with a smaller (newer) turbo than the SC61 I have.

what i want to know is can you cruise in low gear? i dont want it to be a sohc down low where i have to go into boost just to pass someone.

looking at this current setup.

HE341 (faster spooling then a hy35)
gtr 440cc injectors (resistor pack)
cam gears adjusted
Nistune
3.90 gears ( i have 3.54)
Walbro 255lph
maybe i should get a nismo fpr too?

I might compound turbo with a HE351 later on.

thats about it oh and clutch and a few driveline parts but im looking for 400rwhp and

3xx torque I'm keeping the top mount intake manifold and things like that. I have a 300rwhp VG30ET before it was awesome but i dislike no A/C in order to make power.

I had Nistune, Walbro 255, gtr 440 injectors, stupid front mount and a T3/T04E I made 367 rwhp and 300.3 wtq at 19 psi.

Driving it daily was fine. I could pass, do things out of boost. I spooled at 3800, full boost at 4500 and help until 7500 redline. If you worry about driveability, invest heavily on the turbo with dual ball bearings and billet wheel and yada yada... But yeah, its not like a N/A v-8 out of boost, but its no Smart car either.

Those are not bad numbers looking to go HY35 though but yea I'm keeping the top mount manifold maybe tubular ex manifold and looking for around 400rwhp. if you made 300hp on only 19psi etc etc (i do know setup's depend) but i see you making around 340ft-lbs torque at around 400rwhp. not bad.

I have the little 20 in my S130 (280ZX) w/ 3.90 rear and I have no trouble cruising around in say 3rd or 4th. I usually don't even use 5th on the highway.
