Ok so i know there's been a million posts on this, but i need help. Engine warms up, i drive it for a little bit, then begins to overheat. temp gauge gets about 3/4 the way up, then comes back down and it's fine again. Also, my heat is on the whole time, but it doesn't kick in until the gauge goes back down. is this a symptom of air in the system? i also bought a nismot-stat, so hopefully that will help. but can anyone tell me the EXACT bleeding technique for the rb cooling system? i've seen a ton for the KA, but none specific to the RB20. any help would be greatly appreciated.

How bad does it over heat? If you can drive it here I can show you how? But don't drive it if you can hear the over flow tank bubbling when it gets hot. The first thing is to fill the radiator all the way up. With the car running and radiator cap off so you can watch the level in the radiator loosen the 12 point 10mm bolt by the fpr vaccumm hose till all the air comes out. Once coolant starts coming out tighten it back up. Then check the coolant in the raidator again. Put the cap back on the radiator and look at the heater hoses. There should be a spice with a nipple( he he he nipple) on it. Take the hose clamp off and pull the little cover off of the nipple. Put it back on as soon as coolant start running out. Tighten the hose clamp and shut the car off because it's prolly getting pretty warm by now. When it cools down check the radiator level and fill as needed.

could be a sticking thermostat, mine did that a few times after the swap, the reason oyoure heater is not working until the temp drops is because youre thermostat is sticking closed, then when it finally opens it allows the warm coolant into the heater core.

i think you also may have the heater hoses mixed up is its not blowing warm until the themostat opens.
