rb20 not running right.

2 weeks of swapping and wiring.... rb20 finally starts and runs but does not run right...

it smokes sooo much black smoke, its very rich, it does not rev, my sstock tach will only stop reving 4 and while it rev's.. it revs sooo rough..

I am using an n60 mass air flow sensor if thats probably my problem.. but i dunno i read an n60 will work... so maybe its wired wrong? can anyone tell me how they should be hot wired so i can double check mine?

Did u check for vacume leaks? sounds like you have a mean one.

no i have no vaccum leaks and no didn't check for codes.. i dont really like to d*ck around with the ecu. lol

i should be good tomorrow.. someone i meet is gonna come down and bring me extra rb20 mass air flow sensor and that should work...

but i dont know why an n60 should of worked.. I read up on here on nico that n60 works with an rb20 well i'm gonna try to find whoever posted that and tell them they are wrong.

You're on the right track, those symptoms sound like limp mode from not having a working MAF or bad wiring. However, not meaning to thread jack, but I was curious why my car has way more low end torque with the MAF unplugged. extra fuel and retarded timing provides more turbo spool? I dunno. Good luck.

hey guys... i checked today.. turns out my mafs was wired wrong.. so i re-did it the right away and now it runs better.. its not as rich anymore,, it doesn't smoke anymore, it will rev now pass 4 grand at an idle.... But as I tired to take it for my first drive around the block... as driving around it would not rev pass 4 grand and it would bog and fall down on its face... i had the gas pedal to the floor and it woudln't even respond to anything so then i stoped and parked on the side to let it idle.. it idle fine and then i reved it again at idle and it would rev pass 4 and rev to red-line just fine and smooth... so then i drove it again and same thing it would just fall down on its face as driving..

what could be up with it now??

and I have some miss-fire.. like every 2 minutes it will do a little miss-fire.

Ugh much worse then my symptoms, but I can't think mine is anything but a boost leak, and what's worse a boost leak I can't find...

I'M DONE I give up on my car for a while maybe for like 4 weeks.. I can't take this stress anymore.. Everytime it doesn't wanna run right I just wanna get pissed and beat something.

today i checked for boost leaks didn't find any..

i tessted my coils, coils are good, i replaced my fuel filter..

still nothing..

i'm giving it up for a few weeks because i have no idea what is wrong with it.

it seems to idle fine and idle smooth, it'll rev smooth while i sit at idle... maybe once in a while a little miss-fire. it no longer smokes black or run tooo rich anymore.

only thing i know is that it wont go anywhere when i try to drive and now its stalling everytime i come to a stop sign!
