1993 Nissan 240sx SE coupe

Intro: A little information about me. I'm 19, I live in Kennesaw, Georgia. Im about 30 miles north of Atlanta. I previously had a volvo 850 t-5 (I miss it) and I figured I'd post some pictures/videos of the RB finally on the specific forum so you guys can give me some feedback on the setup. Feel free to give me any advice- even in the form of criticism, I'm open to it all, and always want to learn more about the motor/car/different setups.

An Update on the motor status right now- The headgasket began to blow as soon as I switched from 4psi to 11.6psi- as I expected. I ordered the new cometic headgasket and ARP studs the same day (well, weekend) that I installed my new spring in my wastegate. I figured it would happen, might as well build it stronger! I have one main question: What kind of boost levels could anyone suggest with my setup on a new cometic headgasket/studs/timing belt/intake mani gaskets/etc ? I've got an 11.6psi spring, and a manual boost controller and a 4psi spring- so with that combination of parts I'm sure I can find a nice boost level I should run. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Drivetrain/Upgrades/ETC:-RB20DET-GT3255E Precision Performance Turbo-440cc drop-in injectors-Walbro 255lph fuel pump-Fuel pressure regulator-Z32 MAFS (changed over to MAP system now)-Greddy E-manage Ultimate (boost/injector sensors/MAP)-Dual Pass FMIC (by Tophat)-Greddy BOV-Stage 3 clutch, can't remember the name at the moment-TiAL 38mm External Wastegate with screamer pipe (soon to be routed out the side of the car)-11.6psi spring in the wastegate, also have a 4psi spring, and a manual boost controller (which isn't hooked up at the moment)-NGK AFX Wideband-Autometer Gauges (boost/oil pressure/will buy a water temp soon)-3" Apex'i N1 exhaust with resonator and all (I love the fact that it keeps it to a quiet rumble at idle, but that all goes to **** when the wastegate opens- wakes up the neighbors thats for sure)-New intake manifold gaskets-New timing belt/rollers/etc.-New Cometic headgasket and ARP studs on the way- Head will be getting decked when we replace the headgasket.-Nardi steering wheel, and Redline Goods shift boot/e-brake Boot (NICE products by the way, check out Redline Goods in the advertisers specials on NICO!)-R33 Skyline GTS-T seats (making uber custom brackets for them... on the floor basically...they're so comfortable and such a good deal I couldn't pass them up)

VIDEO:

Pictures: (I'm teaching myself how to weld, so go easy on me if they suck. That's part of the first design of a bracket i was making- but it still sat up too high for me. I'm 6'6")

(R32 GT-R steering wheel, now replaced by a nardi- although the GT-R wheel I am keeping because it is really thick, and easy to hold onto- I want to find a good wheel wrap for it so I can use it)

I'll take some more recent photos/video soon. Especially while I'm redoing the headgasket and finishing up the seat brackets.

Let me know what you think! Also, let me know any ideas for boost levels, etc.

Thanks a lot man. The sound is what sold me on this motor, I love it. I'm learning a whole lot more about it as I go, which is good.

Anybody on ideas of what boost to run? I'm going to have the car professionally tuned at Topspeed rather than me screwing with it once I get the new parts on.

Just start at 10psi and work your way up. Since u have 93 out there I would guess maybe 15-16psi should be nice and safe.

Hey man, welds show potential!

I can't comment on pressure / spring to run, sorry :-\

Are you using the gold Brembo calipers? Which AM gages are you using? NV series? Do you like them? What are your thoughts on the gage pillar?

I don't have gold brembos, sorry.

I'm using autometer phantom gauges- I enjoy them, they have the standard green lighting as the stock cluster.

I bought the a-pillar replacement pod, rather than having a standard pod on my A-pillar it's a complete A-pillar cover that is car specific. I think it was $90 or so, definitely worth it to me to not have an ugly pod there, but rather a flush mounted pillar.

on the top weld of your first picture it looks like you need to use a little more heat but, other than that they look pretty good. Just keep going at it....practice makes perfect.

p.s.

If i ever swap it will defintally be a rb20....no question.

Yeah getting a part can be a pain in the *** for these motors. Honestly though there are a lot of USDM counterparts to things such as thermostats, etc. etc. and now that companies are beginning to stock the waterpumps/alternators/etc. that we need for replacements it's getting easier for parts.

strange that your motor popped its HG at 11psi, on my 30r it held 18psi fine on the stocker bolts and hg.assuming its well tuned the motor should hold 450ish whp for a good bit.

Carl H- I think the headgasket was going before I switched to 11psi, it was having a slight bit overheating previously, and then with the 11psi is when it finally began to go for sure. It's no big deal though, hopefully this will alleviate that situation.

I do have two questions- about the tach, is LSauto the only one who can recalibrate the tachometer for me? and what PSI could I run on 440cc injectors and a cometic headgasket/arp studs, 16 or so?

Hey man, take a little vacation down to Saint Simons and give me a hand with my RB swap sometime in the next month or so! Free room and board! And food.

If I can find some time away from school I honestly will swing by and help out. it's probably only like 5 hours or so. I'll check into my schedule and see if I can

Topspeed charges about $150 an hour to tune with my e-manage, and I think $40 an hour for the dyno fee. Hopefully it won't cost more than an hour because my car has already been tuned- I just want it retuned for more boost.

Carl H- I e-mailed you about the tach recalibration

rb's popping up all over the state huh...

ive had mine for over 2 years now, its been really reliable, for the most part.

i cant wait to get some more fuel/air into mine, my only mods so far are 5 lug, skyline lsdchipped ecu (tuned by myself)3 inch dp3 inch buddyclub exhaust with test pipe, and im fully tuned with a chipped ecu. last time i dyno'd i made 225 with only those mods and i guess if AC is a mod, i have it too

anyways good luck guys, itll be nice to see some other rb's in town.
