Ok, still collecting parts before the pick-up on Wed. I don't ahve much money for a FMIC after the clip, but I would like to ditch that SMIC. I heard that you need both inlet and outlet on the same side for the RB20. I am looking for suggestions for a cheap way to find one or the cheapest. There was a rumor of a Saab intercooler working out nicely. What did you guys do? Thanx for helping another RB get on the streets!

you dont need inlet and outlet on the same side. It all depends on how you want to run your piping. If you are useing the stock plenum, i would go with the hybrid kit for the rb, you dont have to do much modification to get the piping to work, and its an excellent deal (around $650 for piping and bar and plate intercooler). If you dont want to bring your intake piping over the motor and have a custom plenum you can still go with the hybrid kit, but get the piping for the s14 with it. If you want to do a lot of custom work then the Isuzu NPR intercooler works very well and are very inexpensive, but you will have to modify the endtanks so the inlet/outlet dont point forward. You will prob spend quite a bit of money making your custom piping though.

lol well i can tell you one of the cheapest and best solutions is to get a stock MKIII supra intercooler. They are good for up to 11-14psi on the rb20 and do an excelent job at cooling the air. The one i use to have never got warm at all with the 11psi i use to run daily on 2 inch diameter IC piping.Attached is an image of the stock supra intercooler to give u the idea of what it looks like. It stays very hidden even infront used as a FMIC instead of a SMIC and mine was barely noticeable which use to piss me off. It is probrbaly the cheapest and most effective upgrade.

Not sure if u can imagine it infront of my car. The spearco one i have now is a direct upgrade to the stock MKIII supra one i use to have and it is amazing and works great if you can spend some cash to get it.

that's a 1JZ intercooler, you want the 7M one, the inlet and outlet are on the same side.I used a 7M intercooler on an L20ET, very laggy but when that thing finally filled up wooohoo! The RB20 moves more air than an L20 though so it should work great for you.

The 1JZ intercooler worked great for me. Yes it was pretty laggy but i could run all day on the track and my intercooler wouldnt even get warm. I had a pipe made to run along the bottom from the down outlet to bring it right next to the inlet.

MKIII all day ... I have a spearco core from a pro charger setup now, but the supra core was a great replacement. Will hold you for a while if you wanna wait til you can buy an aftermarket core.

Does anyone know where I could find a stock R32 intercooler and piping?
