it will probly take a week or two to just get the motor and then you still have to install it and any other thing that need to be done. So good luck. But I think it fits pritty easly.

Yea it fits fine my buddy did his for like 2700 could of been more like 2400 but he gave his old KA away instead of selling

the swap takes a good part of a month to do unless you got nothing else to do took us a month to the day from pulling the car in to workin out the last of the bugs and fitting the hood.

Would a 2jz swap in an S13 be legal in California? Heard when swapping motors it has to be the same Make of the car and newer if not the same year...

Arn't the 2jz motors from the 94-95 supras? and then I'm guessing if an sr and rb swap is illegal dropping in a six cyclinder supra engine would be too, not to mention the crazy ammount of work that would go into making it all work together, and the fun of finding someone wanting to part with that engine, it would probably just be cheaper to buy a supra, but I could be wrongPeople who did this

JDM motorswaps are illegal... there's USDM 2jzs, but would it be illegal (in California) since it's Toyota and not Nissan?

I think it's far more easier to source supra engines than any SR, CA, or RB. As for crazy amount of work, it shouldn't be any more than an RB26. (Motor/transmission Mounts, Driveshaft, etc...) The 2jz clip would actually be cheaper since it's stateside, and 6-speed! :D

Here's another one for you guys... if Greddy ever gets CARB certified, does that apply only to the kit? Could you throw that kit onto an S13 KA24(D)E and still be legal?... or is it only legal when used in S14s? How buying some other CARB legal turbo kit and putting the stickers on your own "custom" kit... cuz I doubt cops would go through the hassle to reference what CARB# belongs on what part... :)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is the retard noob thread right?

drag racing a car with IRS is dumb, it's got a better race life destined for it.

go buy some Neon SRT/4's and put about 2k into them...

i agree strongly with Mr1der, go and buy something else. as far asthe fitment, a RB20 can fit you can squeeze a 25 in there also, and a 2JZ i saw a pic a week ago i can post if i find it. but, the motor is sold in the US so it wont be illegal except maybe the law(not srue if its in cali.) about you need to ahave the saem manufacturer motor in the car, blah blah blah. etc.etc.etc.

MMMMM, how do i put this in the simplest terms posible:

IF ITS NOT A KA SITTING IN YOUR ENGINE BAY, ITS ILLEGAL!!!!

That said, has a motor not being legal stopped anyone else here? Do whatever you want.

Isn't there such thing as legal motor swaps? Aside from smog exempt vehicles (30years I believe...), wouldn't something like a VG30 be legal in a 240sx? It's the same year or newer, and it's from Nissan.

Most, if not all of the JDM motor swaps should pass tailpipe emissions testing. It's the visual that usually gets people. That's where the clarification is needed... what are the laws (Specifically California) on legally swapping an engine into the 240? Must it be the same make AND model... just the same make... or can it be any newer or same year USDM motor?

Friggin ironic we got most of the importers :( Also, anybody know the deal of registering vehicles out of state? I have relatives in Arizona... could I just have them register it there and take it down once in a while to get sniffed?

Scroll to "Engine Changes"

Engine changes are legal as long as the following requirements are met to ensure that the change does not increase pollution from the vehicle:

The engine must be the same year or newer than the vehicle. The engine must be from the same type of vehicle (passenger car, light-duty truck, heavy- duty truck, etc.) based on gross vehicle weight. If the vehicle is a California certified vehicle then the engine must also be a California certified engine. All emissions control equipment must remain on the installed engine.

After an engine change, vehicles must first be inspected by a state referee station. The vehicle will be inspected to ensure that all the equipment required is in place, and vehicle will be emissions tested subject to the specifications of the installed engine.

Guess this clears it up... Nothing states that it has to be the original engine, just that it is the same year or newer, and has all emission related equipment still attached.
