I need a new ignition coil. The shop I've been dealing with told me I should look for, "Nissan Skyline Performance Ignition Coil" from "Splitfire"."

Anyone have any idea where I can find this, new or used?

Are you talking about the coil on plug ignition coils, or the ignitor box? If the coils, try taking off the lower boot thingy, yank the spring, and grind down in there with a dremel a little to remove all the crud that builds up over time.

Its not one coil, its 6. We have an individual coil on plug ignition system. I've never had a problem with properly working stock coils. I dont know why people would spend $450+ on splitfire coilpacks. If you really want them, they're on ebay under "splitfire coil packs". Otherwise, you can get them new from infiniti. The q45 uses our coilpacks with a different boot (use your stock rb20 ones), on cylinder 1 & 2 only, thats important. I think you can get them for $108 a piece. Or buy them from auto zone or something, I bought mine from autozone for like $50 each.

I new there were six, but to be honest I don't really know "what there are six of." I mean I know they are ignition coils but that only tells me so much (i have limited knowledge and haven't spent to much time with my RB20)

Is this what your talking about?

Sorry, I believe I use 1994 as the year when I bought mine. Whatever year they turn out to be cylinder 1&2 will be different from cylinder 3 - 8.

They're just little black things kinda like in that picture, and they sit on top of each spark plug. They're under your center cover in between the valve covers, and underneath the pipe with the Blow off valve on it.

I know this is old but it might help some searchers. Years 1990-1996 infiniti q45 coils 1 and 2 are exact same as rb20det, and rb20det s1 coils. It was annoying for me when I first started looking for coils how you find the super sparks, split fires, etc talked about much more than the q45 coils.
