I am a newb to this forum and nissans in a general. I apologize if this has already been posted, no need to flame me, but I recently purchased a 91 rb20det s13, an upon getting it, it ran great. But now I get misfires when I step on the gas, otherwise it runs fine. The car also has trouble cold starting. I changed the spark plugs with BCPR7ES gapped to about .6. I'm completely stumped and I've tried searching by couldn't find an answer to my problem. It also runs rich. I also tried resetting the ECU.

Stock rb20det
4quart aluminum racing radiator
Full 3 inch exhaust

So my question is, what can I do to fix my problems? Hotter spark, different plug?

Maybe check the air flow meter, to make sure the element is clean, and that the plug is securely fitted/not corroded.
Also, :welcome: to Nico :)

Any pics of the car to post up? :)

you should step down to bcpr6es-11 plugs gapped down to 0.8mm, no need for the 7's on a stock setup...an unmodified motor will even be fine on the factory specified 5 heat range plugs.

does the problem occur when the motor is dead cold or fully warm?
fully warm indicates a possible igniter or coil issue while cold could be bad coils.

as far as the trouble starting when cold, sounds like a wiring issue and it was a 'get er done' wiring job.

I cleaned the air flow meter already which helped a little, but I was wondering if I possibly need a different spark plug? Oem with a hotter spark?

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll post pictures when she's all pretty ;)

When I first wake up and start the car it doesn't want to turn over unless I give it gas. When it's warned up it starts a lot easier. So the bcpr6es -11 will help my misfire problem?
There is also a winding noise when ever I start the car up for the first couple of seconds.

And as far as the shoddy wiring job, would I have to completely rewire everything, how much would that cos if I were to pay someone for that. Sorry im such a newb lol

cold plugs will foul easily on an untuned/low boost/stock power setup...no need to run them unless you're in the middle of the desert at high elevation.
winding noise could be an air leak...might want to build a boost leak tester and check.

I Desperatley need a tune, baddd. I'm waiting for a FMIC tho. I'll change the plugs again and see if that helps my misfire. So based on what my problems are should I buy new coils and plugs? Thanks for all the help!

What did you do to rectify the problem in the end?

Changed the plugs to the recommended type/gap and checked my coils and my igniter. Some coils were loose and my igniter was in a weird position, so I fixed that and it rectified my problem. It starts up better and there's no misfire anymore :D thanks for the input and help! I'm actually selling my car now because I need money for college, and insurance is high as ****!
