I am preparing to do a headgasket before I swap the rb20 into my 240 and I ran into a roadblock. For the headbolts, there is an allan key that you have to use to loosen the headbolts, but I cant seem to find it or the right size. I checked this r32 service manual that was posted here a few weeks ago and it first, doesnt have an rb20 in there (mostly rb26 info) and secondly for the rb26 headgasket removal it doesnt have the size of the allan key to use. I went to the local sears hardware and they dont have anything larger than a 10mm in an allan type socket.

I am just wondering where you guys (that has had the head off) got your sockets from? Thanks.

I don't know exactly what the rb20 is, but the rb26 is 12hex and rb25 is 10hex. So if the 10 is too small it has to be a 12.

Yep, it's a 10. I got a set from Home Depot. Be prepared with a breaker/cheater bar. Those things are on TIGHT!
