i have a nissan skyline rb20. i just installed a metal headgasket with arp headstuds. got the head decked and washed before headgasket job. but the block remained in the car.installed it and ran fine.. got a new bigger turbo... thats fine too.. but the water line to the turbo melted against the stainless steel tubular manifold and cause the engine water to leak out and overheat. we fixed the water line.. but now the engine still overheats and boils over very quickly. we assume the head warped / cracked from heat and needs to be resurfaced again.

two questions:1.When the block was never decked in the first place just the head, could that have been a contributing failure to this problem?

2.right now the head is off, and visually i cannot see any problems.. but im going to set the head to the machine shop again to resurface it again.. Anything else i should check before i reassemble it again???

are you sure it wasnt just a air bubble in the coolant system?

You should have checked the block with a Square and Filler gauge for Worp also how HOT are we talking? 230-250?

The head would not cause the motor to over heat now. Sounds like a thermostat issue.

Do you have water in the oil?

Oil in the coolant?

sounds like just a bubble to me. aftermarket intake removes the high point for the screw to bleed the coolant system... It's a pain sometimes.

I'm surprised you got a metal head gasket to seal in the first place just by decking the head.

Not sure why you pulled it all apart before doing the simple checks first, but since it is apart, check for straightness of each surface and throw it back together again. Bleeding the system is critical and takes some time for the air to work its way thru.

the temp went from 50% on the gauge.. to 85%-90% in 2 mins... doesnt read in numbers.

then i fixed the water line and positioned it so it cannot touch the manifold, fulled it up with coolant, temp is getting hot.. water isnt draining on the ground.. but coolant was getting low again.. fulled it up some more... coolant missing again... and a bit bubbly aswell.

it just got too hot too quick. took the head off.. sent to machine shop.. they had to deck 6 thou, to make it straight again.. dont forget the head was off 3 weeks prior and got decked and a new headgasket job. then the water hose broke.. and it all had to come off again.
