Hey guys so i was on my way home from the store and as i was getting into town i was coming up on a stop light and popped it into nuetral and it went to idle and lobed for a sec then died and my check engine light came on. i turned the key and it fired right up, so i pulled into the gas station and noticed and low rpms it started making this god awful noise my best way to describe the noise is it sounded like grinding/metal on metal rubbing. there is no knocking. but under a load just driving normaly the noise isnt there but as soon as i let off the throttle its back or idle its there. the motor has about 700 miles on it since i rebuilt it and its been running good till tonight. it sounds like its coming from the front of the motor but then it sounds like its coming from the head. any ideas what i should start with? i need help asap due to this being my only transpertation right now. :squint: any help will be muchly apriciate

Have you figured this out yet?

if you haven't, drain your oil, and run a magnet threw it, if you come up with lots of shavings, you probably broke something internal, if not, i would check the clutch, and pull the valve covers looking for signs of damage.

It can also be an external pulley causing the problems. For example, the AC compressor clutch can lock up or drag causing the noise, power steering pump, alternator, water pump, or even timing belt tensioner/idler pullies. Provided that your oil and filter are still clean and free of noticable shavings, then the problem will most likely be something external.

sounds like something external. take a good look at your pulleys and timing cover area. sounds like something is coming loose and rubbing. check your timing belt too.

are you running the timing cover? did you put those little washers for the CAS back in? the exh cam gear is known to rub the CAS if you don't have those washers.

if you're worried about internals, a quick test to knock out is to drain a cup of oil to check for metal shavings.

i found the problem the stud that holds the tensioner pully snapped. i replaced it and reset the timing just in case and it fired right up (thank god) and its been running fine. although i think i have an exhaust leak or something im hearing a ticking but i noticed that before that broke. i do have one other question though its totaly not related to that stud. ok so a while back my transmission blew up and i replaced it with the ka transmission and got a custom driveshaft made and it works great, well before my transmission blew my spedo worked i was using the ka spedo sensor after i replaced my transmission the spedo quit working. i replaced the sensor with another one i had and it still doesnt work. after the transmission blew i could start my car and put it in gear and watch the spedo work since my driveshaft wasnt connected but ever since i put the new transmission in it just wont work i have no idea what the hell is going on. anyone have any clue what it could be? im lost and stuck.
