Hey Guys,

I just got my turbo today for my little brothers project car we're going to be building, a RB20DET 240SX.

We're looking to make about 350RWHP on pump gas for his daily driver.

I have been looking into Fuel Controllers and have been researching the E-Manage and the SAFC.

Besides just speculation, has anybody used either one on their setup and what have you learned?

Which would you recommend?

Chris

I have used both. And I would have to say the emange by far is just better to tune with. The Fact that it can control ignition timming is a major plus to me. I haven't messed around with one on a RB yet. I did mess around one with my friends SR20DE+T, We changed the setup from the AFC to the Emange when his went with bigger injectors. He started out with 370cc (factory DET's) and the AFC could do it's thing to that off his Stock brain. The turbo setup was rebuilt and he went with 525cc injectors. The AFC couldn't control it very well. Car wouldn't idle right ran too rich, Take away too much fuel and it would ping.

Told him to go pick up a Emange with the harness and we went from there. Car idles good with the 525's makes good power on pump gas and race gas. Last time we dynoed it was summer time I think and it was really hot in the dyno room. We would make 3 passes and have to let the car cool down. The best we made that day was like 275hp on pump gas with a 1hour tune (91 piss water) and 320hp on 91+110. on pump gas boost was at 12psi and race gas went up to 16psi. Emange all the way bro.

I was going to run an emanage on my RB25 but after it arrived to my house I changed my mind and went with a PFC. One thing I didn't like was the stock ECU does things wierd when you start turning up boost. When the ECU sees airflow readings too high it startes to pull timing and add fuel. The emanageand S-AFC will clamp that signal going to the ECU and help it but a side effect of doing that is you start getting ing timing that is too advanced. The emanage can control timing but what I was told that the Supra owners do is advance there timing and use the emanage to retard it because the emamage is better at retarding then advancing. The problem is the RB motors Use the cam sensors for thier fuel. So after thinking of all those things I just went with a PFC.

I would go w E-manage. I have had a Power FC on my old SR and i was satisfied w it. E-manage by far is the best bang for the buck....AFC = NO timing, and sluggish fuel curves

I'm using the SAFC II on my current setup right now. If I could go back in time...I probably would have gone a different route. I'm running 440cc injectors in my RB20 and the SAFC has to take out waaayyyy too much fuel (try up to 30% correction!!!). I don't know a lot about the E-manage...but I would def. advise against the SAFC. Seemed like a great idea when I bought it....*sigh*...oh well...

install both in the trash.i would get either a rom tune and use a safc to tweak or get a pfc.i had an emanage and it was ok but it was still a piggy back and still a maf interceptor and still mucked with timing.a rom tune for larger maf/injectors/limiter removal will do just fine for 350whp, hell i run around right now with a rom tune for my z32/720's and the afr's are perfect on a STOCK timing and ignition map.however im going to a pfc for higher resolution for tuning since i spin my motor out to 8.5k.

Can't really get away from those RB240's can you Chris?

I put another vote in for holding out for a PFC...

I've been looking at the ultimate emanage and looks very promising... you can control ignition injectors, timing, and change from a maf to a map set up. with plugs and software i've found for under $650.
