Currently im in the process of putting my engine back together. Im running CP 8.5:1 pistons bored 0.040" over, spool rods and all ACL bearings. The machine shop told be the pistons come out of the block 0.040". Is this common? What thickness head gasket should i run? Thanks

I would just stick with a 1.0 gasket no need to try and lower the compression down.

So its common for the pistons to coming out of the block? The reason im asking is because i have a stock gasket which is 1mm (0.03937") from what i've found and the pistons are coming above the deck surface 0.040". I really dont want to get this beast together and have the pistons slam into the head or bend all my valves.
