Hey guys
my names danny and im from new zealand.
Just got a few questions regarding a RB20DeT setup for a real beginner drift car.
My dad owns a car wreckers here in new zealand and just yesterday we picked up a modified cefiro which had a Rb20det + some other bits and bobs like 3.5inch straight exhaust, Custom intake manifold and some suspension parts.
Now my friends go to this drift pad near our city with their Silvias and skylines and ive never got to go since i dont have a rwd car but now that i have a engine, suspension and other car parts available i thought id make a drift/project car of my own.
Well my question is, Are the RB20deT engines suitable for a beginners drift car? Im planning to put the RB20 in a skyline or a silvia body whichever comes first with the suspension parts as well. Ive already searched up Sr20 vs rb20 but i havnt been able to source a Sr20deT only sr20de's :/
Also in order to straight swap a RB20det in to lets say a S14 body, What would i be needing other than the usual wiring harness's etc
I will post some pictures of the parts i have later on next week.
Thanks
Danny

Welcome to forums Danny!

Wow you got lucky with that rb20 huh lol! But you have lots of reading to do bro. Read the FAQ's other peoples build threads and you'll have your questions answered. Nobody likes spoon feeding others on here or any forum for that matter of fact! Use the search button, it helps a lot! Good luck and start a build thread when you are ready!

Welcome Danny!
Plenty of s14 owners have done this swap and the rb20 is very suitable for drifting. Why don't you just drift the cefiro? Is it wrecked?

@s14 rb25 sorry about that i was sorta in a hurry. my dad wanted to me to sell the rb20 but i thought it'd be good if i can use it so had to make a quick decision.

@Sl33per Yeah the cefiro was damaged. the roof had a massive dent and side panels were smashed in.

However i managed to grab alot of things from the car. The camber arms plus pretty much the whole rear end including the LSD diff, rb20det, FMIC and the 5stud hubs plus the brakes from a i think BNR32 GTST or a GTR model(It'd be great if someone can clearify this for me, the caliper itself says nissan and at the top it says sumimoto? its a 4 pot so definitely from a turbo model but not sure which one..ill upload a pic later) . We also had a R32 skyline 4door come in a few days ago and i was able to grab myself a set of very nice coilovers, the rear ones were made by cusco but the front ones i am not too sure just says GAB? or GAP? lol. So At the moment i have most of the parts needed to make this project car all i need is a rolling body and pretty much all the wiring etc. One other thing i noticed with the RB20 i picked up is that it had a Straight intake manifold? usually on the RB20 and 25's the pipe from the IM is linked in the middle and goes across the rocker covers whereas the one i found came straight off the end of the IM. Is this any good? what does it really mean ? my mate who also had a look at it told me it was a custom made one but he wasn't to sure if it made any significant difference over the original Intake manifold. I will upload the pics of the parts later on this week :D Any advices will be greatly appreciated as im very new to this field and im hungry for knowledge!
Cheers guys
Danny

Wow! Even though these cars are wrecked, your gaining quiet the parts collection. For a good practice vehicle, track-only, you could turn any drive able dented car into what's called a "drift missile" - which basically means you drift the s*** out of it and don't care about the body panels cause it's Already scrapped. Pretty much any rwd car can serve this purpose.
Post some pics! The manifold you mentioned sounds custom or at least not a oem part.

ha.. yeah quite alot of parts get wasted often since my dad and the employees dont have much knowledge about aftermarket parts. Its a shame ive only started working end of last year... could have gotten myself way more parts if i worked there earlier. Im working there this weekend so ill take pics of the parts and post it up ! drift missile ayee sounds like ALOT OF FUN :D:D:D ill keep you guys posted
Cheers

Welcome,

About calipers they are the ones people upgrade to besides Brembo and such, Sumitomo makes them for Nissan,Mazda,Mitsu, aluminum or steel, direct bolt on onto S13/14 with rotors no mods needed just remove old caliper bracket on S13/14, 4pot mounts onto spindle assembly.
Intake manifold plenum, definitely not stock wouldnt be surprised if turbo has been upgraded too. Not going into detail, frees up room in engine bay and easier to run FMIC. Your ecu is probably tuned too for your spec. and injectors might be GTR upgrade.

S133P3R=was thinking same thing missile
