Im in the middle of putting my rb20 back together. Crank is out and collar is on but the question is. Should i get it balanced and checked for trueness. Ive been calling all the engine shops all over MN trying to find somebody to balance it but nobody will. My problem is my pistons and rods are still in the engine and nobody wants any part of checking the crank without them. What type of main and rod bearing did you all use when you did your crank collar? My friend said he could balance it for free but they just moved his balancer to install a new cnc cam grinder. So its not level and thats a no go for now. No shop besides his will touch it unless I pull the pistons and rods. Im not looking forward to pulling the pistons because I will need new rings or new pistons. The engine is real clean under 40k on it no oil stains anywere. There are two types of balancers from what ive been told one that balances the whole rotating assembly and one that can balance just the crank, flywheel and harmonic balancer. Im looking for feedback from those who have done or are doing what I am PLEASE NO HEAR SAY im looking for those who know actual facts from doing this them selves and what they did for there swap. Thanks

Problem solved I think. Just got a call back from a shop who said they could do it. Looks like ill be heading up there in the morning to get R done. Hopefully they do good work. Going to get it checked, streightend, re micro polished, and balanced. Then I should be set to beat the poo out of this thing I hope.
