Hey guys
I have a rb20 that was just rebuilt and cant get the crank pulley timing marks to line up when looking at base timing. But the engine runs and drives great. I went threw the procedure many times rpms at 650, tps at .49, ecu talk says the timing at idle is on the money at 15 btdc, but when you put a light on the crank pulley it says 30 btdc but the engine runs great. If i try to adjust the the cas to when the crank pulley is as close as it can get to 15 btdc it runs like crap. Also the pulley is lined up with the key way. Just wondering if anybody has any insight as to why? Maybe the pulley is for a different motor say rb25 or something im not sure?

Thanks

where are you picking up signal for the light from?
you should always use a plug lead between the coil to the plug as the loop tends to be inaccurate.
is the car a wasted spark car? are you using a dial back timing light?
if the answer is yes to both questions above then the light will shoot double actual time.

Im using just a basic induction timing light no dial back around the #1 coil loop. No waste spark as well. I will try a plug lead and see what happens
