I was told that the Install was diificult and the engine had to be lifted out to do so, is this tru? The mechanic has worked on a rb26dett and says that he had to take the engine out for that.

No you do not need to lift the engine out of the car...that's retarded. All you need to do is drop the trans. It's a pretty straightforward install.

What mounts do you have??Because with the Top Hat mounts that I have, there's now way I could drop the trans without taking out the engine or at least taking it out of the mounts and moving it forward.Because you can get to the bolts on top of the bell housing, but you cant take them out. There pretty long.Plus I dont know if you would be able to pull the transmission out from the pilot and drop it down etc etc etc....

Well at that point you might as well drop the whole engine out.Because its much easier to do on the floor. That's the way I did my clutch.

It all depends on on mounts you have like stated above, And he is talking about the conversion mounts not the rubber isolators. You wont have to pull then engine just use a engine cradel that support the engine from the top and then you can lower the subframe and that will give you all the clearence you need

When I did mine, I pulled the engine, trying to put that trans back on underneath the car would have been a nightmare. Im using an R32 crossmember.
