Hey I have a series 2 RB20 and I know this has been talked about but I really need some tech help, or a shop to give me a hand. I picked up a set of RB26 cams that are in great condition, a set of Greddy Cam gears, and I put them in my RB20. But I am not able to get the car to Idle for more than like a minute, before it stalls out. If I keep on the gas it wont Idle out, but it sucks it's my daily driver. Any help, information, or suggestions would be a lifesaver!!!!! Thank's ahead of time guys!!!!

Did you search before doing this swap. I think there is a certain model rb26 that has to be used in order to make it work. Plus you have to tune the cams in perfect.

i did search and most of the information i found was, not all that helpful. Some people just mentioned they had no problems throwing the RB26 cams in the RB20. But there was not that much technical info. I know the cam gears have to be perfectly timed, but i was just wondering if anyone on here or you know of has done this MOD and had success. I am looking for specs or anything to try to get the timing down, or if they wont work at all, I just will have to take them out.

I believe the reason your cams will not idle with the factory rb20 cam timing is because the lobe separation angle is 3 degrees off what the rb20's was. If you read in that thread I believe there's a chart that shows the factory cam specs for a bunch of different rb motors. Find that and you'll be able to tune them properly. Also I believe SydneyKid has done this a hundred times, and I believe he said a good starting point for cam timing is 4 degrees advanced intake, 3 degrees retarded on the exhaust. Confirm that by reading the thread, but it should be a good starting point.

Didn't the last guy with the 26 cams in the 20 lose all sorts of low end and made very little up top?

My friend has a similar setup with a Rb20 and RB26cams, his car pulls so hard at a decent rpm range. I mean he lost a little low end, but man does it throw you in ur seat. It's just a matter to figure out the specs to get it to idle longer than 1 to 2 mins wo it idling out.
