correction!!on the rb20, blue sensor next to the oil filter, what is this sensor for? oil pressure? I'm trying to plug in the KA lower harness, do we use this sensor at all, because the ka lower harness doesn't match the plug?

If there are 2 of them, one a little further forward, and the plug is round its the knock sensor...you need to transfer those wires from the RB harness to the KA harness.

I believe it is oil pressure and I am currently not using it. On my RB25 it is yellow, but I bet that is what you are refering to as it is right by the oil filter. It is a two prong plug I believe, and the KA harness uses a single connector that is brown if I remember right.

Knock sensors should be higher up and they are green tubes with a o-ring. Two of them on the RB25, so I figure it is probably the same for the 20.

I pulled that wire back a bit from the lower KA loom and connected it, guessing it was the oil pressure sensor. Ill tell you if my warning light comes on tomorrow when I start the motor (for the first time :) )

this plug is about 6" from the filter. it has 2 conductor on the plug.

That is an oil pressure sensor/switch. One wire is for the sensor for an oil pressure gauge (which you will only have if you use the RB cluster). The other wire is for the switch, which you should wire to your oil pressure light. On the KA lower harness, cut off the plug for the KA oil pressure switch and splice in the RB plug (using only the pressure switch wire, of course). I forget what color the switch wire is, but they are both on the wiring diagram.

As for the knock sensors, they are part of the engine harness on the RB20, so they will work without any mods. On the RB25, they are on the lower harness and have to be re-wired.

on the RB25 the yellow/white is the light and the sky blue is the gauge...not sure on the RB20, but I will check and let you all know later tonight(I have an RB20 to wire in the shop now)

So on the Rb25 how do you wire in the knock sensorswith the Ka lower harness? Like wire all the way to the ecu...?

no the wire only goes to the gauges, nowhere near the ECU.

cut the KA plug off and wire in the one from the RB harness.

i've keep thinking it's the oil pressure sensor, but there were a bit doubt because it has two wires to it. thanks for clearing it up guys. i'll swap the plug.

btw!

one more thing: the ka lower harness extends back to the transmission, which has 4 sensors, one is a speed sensor--next to the shifter. the next sensor to that is the reverse, right? now, on the rb20 transmission, beside the speed sensor, there's one other sensor, versus 3-sensor on the ka's transmission. any idea?

THE KA transmission HAS A NEUTRAL SENSOR, SPEED, REVERSE, AND 5TH GEAR.

TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE RB DOESN'T HAVE A NEUTRAL SENSOR.

sorry guys, it's the blue sensor, not green, adjacent to the oil filter

i was probably daydreaming or something.

BLUE IS OIL PRESSURE SWITCH FOR THE DUMMY LIGHT, THE GREEN ONES ARE KNOCK SENSORS.

I think you meant 5th.... the RB does not have a 5th gear sensor. It definitely does have the neutral, tho.

WELL IF THE 5TH GEAR SENSOR ON THE KA transmission IS IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT LOCATION THAN THE RBS THAT MIGHT BE THE CASE, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE ITS A 5TH GEAR SENSOR NOT A NEUTRAL SENSOR.

I COULD BE WRONG THOUGH.

I was wondering about this myself. I don't have my RB lower harness so I had to use the KA lower when I wired the engine, but I'd really like to know if I have oil pressure. Can someone diagram the prongs of the plug to let me know which is which so maybe I can hardwire it because I don't have the proper plug.

Or, I also bought a cheap little triple gauge set from Advance, Oil PSI, Water Temp, and Amps. Where would I hook the Oil PSI sensor at? Could I unscrew the plug in question?

Any help would be appreciated, even though my questions never get answered on this board. :)

GET A NISMO TEE ADAPTER FROM COURTESY NISSAN AND PLUG IN THE DUMMY LIGHT AND THE OIL PRESSURE SENDER. THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH IS JUST A ON/OFF SWITCH THAT READS AT 5PSI OR LESS.... A DUMMY LIGHT BASICALLY (AND AT THAT POINT ITS ALREADY TO LATE).
