so i ordered some ARP head studs before i took the stock ones off. i was surprised to see that the stock ones are actually bolts. the new ones however are studs as im sure you guys know. how would i go about installing the new ones? looks to me that i could just screw them in with some threadlock and use the nuts on the other end to tighten them. is this the right way? also are there any torque specifications? thanks for your help. and to avoid getting flamed, I DID SEARCH, but not much luck.

YES, there is a specific torque spec, as well as a specific order to torque them in. It is very important that they are installed correct.

The ARP directions say:

"Following the manufacturers recommended torque sequence, tighten the nuts in three equal steps to 80ft lbs with ARP MOLY ASSEMBlY LUBRICANT or torque to 85 ft lbs with 30-WT motor oil"

The rest you can find in the FSM.

follow the factory installation procedure...its in the online fsms.you need to install the studs into the block loosely using some of the arp lube but dont bottom them out.drop the head on then using a set of allen keys tighten the studs against the bottom of the block reasonably tight.then from there install the nuts and torque in sequence and use arp's specified final torque for the sequence final torque.you may have to drop the washers into the head before you put it on; its been a while since ive done mine.
