ok, ive done a bunch of searching. i want to put a rb20det, 5spd into my 89 s13 auto.

like i said i have searched, but most stuff on here seems to be consentrated to the rb25.

are there any websites, or listings with step by step instructions, and or pics?

a lot of the people here have the rb20 swap, so hopefully they will answer with some good info.

Wiring will be different, but most all of the rest of the swap should be the same. with the 20 you can use a s13 manual driveshaft instead of having a custom one made.you are going to have to install a clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder. I hear you can use the R32 one if you get a clip, but I don't know that for sure.

you can use the r32 pedal, but the clutch master cylinder will not work, the hole for the line on the s13 is off to the side, on the skyline its on the bottom and seems too close to the shock tower to clear.

the engine bolts in with the RB crossmember or you can buy a mount kit.

The wiring is simple and can be found in this forum. the neutral safty switch write up is hard to understand (for me anyway) so what you do is look directly under the center of the fuse box on the left side of the engine bay. there will be a plug with 2 semi thick wires. solder them together. You will now be able to start the car with the key and without pushing in the pedal.

I reccomend using a bigger radiator (skyline or koyo)

I think the only drawback to this swap is the limited aftermarket parts availability. be creative.

i'm using the RB20's drive shaft, and it bolt on fine, even with the J30 VLSD. Either the RB20's or S13's manual drive shafts will bolt on fine. If you use the S13's drive shaft, you would need to cut off the dust cover at the end of the transmission; you don't have to w/ the RB20's.

if you get the clip, make sure the radiator is still good, because it 's a better one than the S13's stockie for cooling.

this forums has all the info you will ever need.

btw! if you need a S13 manual drive shaft, let me know, because I have an extra one here.

alright, thanks for the help.

so to some it up, i got a 89 auto fastback.if i got a r32 front clip, i use the engine, trans, radiator, front crossmember, clutch pedal, and driveshaft if it comes with one.

parts i will need, a s13 clutch master cyl, clutch hardline across the firewall, and a s13 manual driveshaft if the clip didnt come with one.

then wiring obviously, but im trying to get the mechanical aspect down first.

am i missing anything?

you can use the trans braket too. you need a speed sensor off a Ka24 manual trans.

the exhaust bolts up to the rb down pipe.

you need to make cusom power steering lines, and remove the vanes from the rear pump on the rb pump.

Grind either the steering knuckle or the o2 sensor housing so that the steering shaft clears.

cut a hole for smic piping.
