So all I can find these days as far as a top mount manifold is the SSAutoCrap, and similar maybe even cheaper (if its possible?) eBay knock-offs. Any idea where I might be able to get a quality Top Mount Manifold?

i wish a honest company would make quality RB stuff and kick these wannabe money hungry freaks to the curb!

$1600 a log manifold could be cheaper than that. If you can't wait Full Race can make you one for $2400. Or Call Apexi and ask how much the RB GTmanifold cost.

Boy.. I just can't see spending more on a manifold than the engine itself cost.

Unless maybe you were going to very high HP for race purposes.

Just soooo much money!

GOD! $2400! Thats crazy! When I get mt motor finalized I am looking to pull out with high 400WHP range maybe low 500's. Has anyone heard of "Gato Performance?" I have seen ppl's mod lists on their RB's and have seen Gato Performance Manifolds but can't find **** from them on RB stuff.Freaking I6's are expensive!!!!!! Now I see why ppl go KA-T or SR20.

Yup it don't matter if it's a 20 or 26 the manifold is going to cost more because it's a inline 6 . People understand how much work is involved in making a equal length manifold for a Inline 6. It's no rams horn like a inline 4, if you call those equal length. It's alot of hard work, so modding the Factory exhaust manifold for a external gate would be the cheapest route to go.

Another suggestion would be a Nismo intake manifold. They cost about half of those Full Race manifolds and they look really nice. Good luck finding something that works out for your application.

I do not know, but nobody has said Greddy... reputable places have them for around $700. Or maybe I missed something...

... But the guy who posted before me.. crap, your right. (removes foot from mouth) My bad. Thanks.

Personally I'm only looking for max of 350 - 400 WHP, I assume that the best option would be to clean up my log manifold and go external wastegate then?

I'm not sure how bad or good the stock manifold is.

From basic exhaust manifold research / theory, the 'log' type is the cheapest to produce, but is also the least efficent. I have not done much research on Nico or RaceBread about exhaust manifolds, so I probably should... I just wondered since the thread was open and active. Yellow, you said "modding the Factory exhaust manifold for a external gate would be the cheapest route to go." Would that be the best for the general 'run of the mill' manifolds? (i.e. not race)

Or am I just looking at something that I should not be worrying about ATM?

Thanks for your help tho!

Well my modding it I mean cutting the top near the collector to mount a external wastegate. You can fit a bigger turbo on to the stock exhaust manifold.

SC61 mount to the stock manifold. The turbo could be clocked a little or shaved a little to make a perfect fit.

This is the external waste gate mod I was talking about.

sorry to hijack, but would a SSAC exhaust mani be a power improvement over stock? is anyone running one with a stock turbo? how does all the oil/coolant lines match up to it?

thanks!

i dont post much because im more of a lurker but i have heard of people buying SSAC manifolds and taking them to a shop and have a replica fabbed up since the SSAC is crap but seems to be a decent design, given a decent fabricator.

However, im not sure on the cost of a job like that, but i dont see it getting over 2 grand.

a buddy of mine local has an rb25 with a i believe he called it a wasabi garage manifold, but i cant remember 100% sure if thats what its called, but its defintely a qaulity manifold and i believe he paid around 1000 bucks. im also not sure how to get ahold of them. google i suppose

hope it helped some

Gato Performance is, I believe, actually the shop brand of Central Florida Turbo. They have made equal length exhaust mani's for the RB25 before and seem to flow really well. Give them a call and see if they can give you a quote. I doubt it would be more than 2g's.

i would think the log mani would be a total waist of time, well the reason for me thinking this would be experience with american muscle. i know on v8's the log style mani is good for bottom end and producing more torque at a lower rpm. since the rb produces all its power and torque higher in the revs it wouldnt really gain anything from it, but maby a couple ft-lbs if that. the only good i can see coming out of a log mani would be spooling just a tad faster.

but if anyone can enlighten me please do, i am also going to start some research on this since i can build a log mani for next to nothin.

The stock manifold is a log. If it's all you got you have to roll with it, You can go fast on a log I have seen it done. Sucks for flow but it will get the job done.

No lie here, the other problem that I run into with log type is A. Air Flow, my turbo would spool quicker with a good equal lenght top mount even low mount. B. I have modified the stock mani to support a external gate. But then again its only a stock manifold, who knows how much pressue that think can take before it cracks. I'll Contact Central Florida and see what they charge or w/e for the Gato manifolds and let you all know.

WELL

Anywho, I found one from Peak Performance (Phase2 Store @ Yahoo.com)for $995 I have heard of this one before and looks to be decent I asked a few guys about it and I am awaiting a response back... so yeah check out this link!>> http://phase2motorsports.store....html

Looks almost like the wasibi. I'm not sure how thin walled stuff holds on on inline 6's. It might do better than inline 4's. The manifold I'm looking at is made from sch40 304 stainless. http://www.3rdgearvtec.net/And...a.JPG The one on the right is a greddy manifold the thin walled stuff.

I guess I may need to re-phrase my question:

At what HP range (300, 400, 450+ ) do you want to look into upgrading from the stock log exhaust manifold? Or is it that the different manifold gives a greater potential the higher the output?

For me personally, I am only looking for mid 300's. That is why I am looking at modding for an external wastegate. This is going to be a daily driver for me, so I need consistancy.

Thanks for all of your help!

what about adapter boxes, like this guy built... I had been thinking about buillding one, because it would 1) provide more clearence, 2) provided for ewg, without out welding rolled steel to cast, which is beyond my capabilities and 3) allow me to use whatever flanged turbo I wanted to.I'm just not sure what compromises are made with respect to flow, strenght, and the positioning of the wastegate seems less then ideal. I'm not sure how well it would control boost..

They don't flow very well, I remember when they had the adapter plates for dsms that let you bolt on a garret turbo to the stock manifold. They never worked very well. I'd rather just cut the cast and add the external gate. I know goffy nick had that setup on his 20 and it didn't work too well for him. It was that or his home made intake manifold.

Just extrude hone and jet hot the stock manifold and see if it becomes a limiting factor.

I'm sorta looking into building my engine in the not too near future, and that was sorta my plan, but I would like to not be limited to t3 flanged turbos.

I had though about building a log manifold, but I don't think my skills are quite there yet.

Even still I'd think that too much over 400 would become too much stress on the stock manifold, you also have to take into consiteration that it is a used motor and unless you got a clip there is no telling actual mileage, on top of that how hard the person in japan or w/e drove it before w/e happened to it.

OH and Yellow4G63 that link was dead... try again i wanna see what that was.

dude go to phase2motortrend.com they have Rb25 manifolds for 1000 thats your best bet and the quality looks pretty good. and the price an't bad considering all the numbers everyone else is throwing around here.

It's around $1200 (through aftermarket companies, idk how much Nissan would charge ), and I haven't been able to find too many places from which you can buy them.

Sorry for the confusion, I was thinking that the originator was looking for an alternative to the cross-over intake manifold. It's good that you guys cleared all this up because I had just posted a thread about a good exhaust manifold. I guess I now know where to go...btw are any of you s13 owners that are considering this route?
