Hello,

My rb20det swap is finally coming along. We got the new driveshaft in (had to get a new single piece driveshaft with new u-joints made), radiator in (used the 240sx radiator), intercooler and piping in, all new belts installed, power steering figured out (had to castrate the rear portion of the pump), new KYB-GR2 struts/shocks installed, and had to buy and install new tie rod ends. We swapped the sensor from the KA auto transmission into the rb auto transmission.

Walbro 255 Fuel pump should be in soon and 300zx fuel filter swap.

Now we are finally ready for wiring. Now we want to use the KA cluster, but will the KA tachometer work? Also what kind of resistor setup to make the speedometer read accuratley? I cant wait till we finally get to start up the engine...it should be sometime this week though.

Well thanks

Tony

IF YOU HAVE A KA SENSOR IN THE transmission IT WILL READ CORRECTLY. YOU CAN SWAP THE TACH FROM THE RB20 CLUSTER INTO THE KA CLUSTER (THIS IS WHAT I DID AND IT WORKS PERFECT).

Congrats. I am almost finished with my RB25 swap as well. Where did you buy the fuel pump?

Was the install pretty simple? Everytime I mess with the wiring, I realize I shouldn't. :)

heavythrotle.com has a kit you can buy. it does away with alot of wiring and makes the pump fit a little better.

What intercooler are you using? Did you just get a custom driveshaft locally made, and how much?

On the Walbro fuel pump, I suggest making sure that it comes with the intsall kit too. I learned this the hard way on a Honda that I did.

I used the stock skyline r32 intercooler, mounted on the side of the car (driver side). It looks pretty good I will have pics up soon. I got the driveshaft made locally for $210 with all new u-joints. This is a nice single piece driveshaft.

I also got my fuel pump on ebay for $87 with install kit. I just got it today so i will install it soon.

Thanks Projectrb240sx for the info.

This what NISMO_RB25 said about it in his thread...Quote »I just wanted to give a progress update. This weekend I installed the stock side mount intercooler into my S13. Kids, don't try this at home. It was a pain in the butt, and I should have went front mount. I had to bend, grind, cut, dremel on everthing. At least I proved to myself it could be done. [/quote]

Actually it was not too bad to install. It took about 2 hours of figuring out but we got it to fit nicely. We did have to use some 2-1/4" PVC piping for some of it to fit. No cutting, welding, etc. Just bolted in the stock intercooler using self taping screws using the stock intercooler mount and cut a bigger oval hole in the 240 frame for the intercooler pipes to fit and VOILA. Took about 3-4hours total.

Well my page is updated go look at it for the pics:

and it's an S14, so we used all stock R32 piping...though we had to cut quite a bit out of the engine bay where the air intake goes. I suppose i'll put a piece of metal over the hole and paint it black when i end up doing a front mount.
