Okay, so... I've been digging through the inferno if hellish scattered RB information I can find on many different forums. Sad part for me is my main question/s are still relitivly unanswered. You see, I'm trying to build something stupid, yet really awesome at the same time. Now for all intensive purposes, I'm not at liberty to disclose the full details of this project at this time. Let's just say its a front engine, rear wheel drive track car.

After much research I believe that I want an RB25DET power plant with a GTS Transmission and rear differential. In some aspects it seems like this makes things easier than a 240 swap. I guess what I'm looking for here is any advice, pointers, and even criticism at this point.

With that being said, here is my general idea of how to make it work. Keep in mind, I'm trying to use regular Nissan parts on the first version of this car. Also to keep r&d costs down. We can go balls deep once the platform has proven itself. Just bare bones streetable race car here.

I will need:

RB25DET with ecu and wiring harness all that jazz
R33 front crossmember
GTS transmission
GTS differential
GTS gauge cluster

I just want to find out if I'm missing any component that would hinder me putting this engine and transmission into any car that is simply a chassis. I won't need A/C or a stereo or any luxury like that. Just engine, drive line, and headlights, tail lights, basic bare minimum driving necessities.

Am I overlooking anything here? Note that I will be required to use a fuel cell with specific rules on fuel pumps and what not. So that stuff won't be stock.

Had a small breakthrough in my endeavor today. Met a dude with an RB in an old hotrod. Thing was sick. He didn't want me to take pictures tho. Said it was too unfinished. Got some helpful pointers from him tho. May have altered my perspective on how I go about obtaining some of my parts. Still looking for helpful tips.

Get the Neo RB25DET motor with the trans, cost a little more but from what I heard it's the tits of all the RB25's. Get a mount kit and conversion harness make life easier unless you know for sure you can get the R33 croassmember. Run a fan clutch, change the timing belt, tensioner, idler and water pump before you put the motor in the car. Why the GTS gauge cluster? get a tach adapter use your stock cluster unless it's a S14 then you just need to adjust the tach in the back to read right.

My reasoning on the GTS gauge cluster is because the car currently is just a shell/or in white as they say. I figured it would be the simplest way to do it.

Might not be unless you get a front clip. If you do get a front clip with the cluster then you will have all the dash wiring. At that point you just need to figure out the wiring with a FSM to make work in the 240.

You can use those with the AEM or haltech.

After those two do you know if any of the other standalone ECU's are compatible with that dash? Or I would probably need to call the company and ask them.

It's the only one that comes right off the top of my head. If you have another unit in mind prob best to email them and find out if it will work. It should tho since it's just sensors out put to the dash display.

If that's the rout I take I thinkit might be better to just build the engine from the ground up.
