hi guys,

i'm new here but not new to the car/tuning community and i have some questions that i hope you can answer. first off i have a 96 240sx that i will be pulling the engine out of this fall and replacing with an rb26. i'm buying a gtr front clip, my question is, how hard would it be to adapt the awd system from that gtr front clip to my 240 chassis? i know that full race has done it and was supposed to release a kit to do this with but its not available. i know that i would have to get some parts fabbed up to make the subframe and cv axels/front drive shafts to fit and i also know that i'll need to get the g sensor for the awd to work properly. any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

thanks ahead of time guys

Its a tonn of work to do it right. Either you have very good skills with a welder and put in a lot of time, or you pay some one to do the custom work, its not a bolt on affair.

Theres also a couple s13's with RB26 awd setups so you might want to research them. Its all on here and linked to other forums as well.

Do tonns of research, there is a lot of info.

Are you only after the AWD aspect or do you also want the front mulit-link suspension too? Many guys opt out of the suspension for a strut->kingpin adapter, which does makes things quite easier. I decided I wanted the multi-link conversion also. It makes for a more complete legit swap than just running an adapter.

All in all, not a swap for the faint of heart or some fabrication skills. I fully support it though! Check the sig

Id like to check it out but your sig isn't showing up. I'm considering building an R13, or maybe just doing a front multi link setup on my hatch i have now.

lol, I sometimes forget which forum I have my sig setup on. I guess its time for me to set it up on Nico. Anyhow, what were you plans on adapting the multi-link to your car? There are 3 methods of which I know of:

1. Full-Race method: Weld-in upper link mounts to existing strut towers

2. Another member's method: Just mount a complete R32 front end to the existing chassis (RHD included)

3. My (and other's) method: Cut out stock strut towers and weld-in multi-link strut towers.

This is of course assuming all above methods are running a multi-link cross member.
