The search button can take some abuse, too bad nobody ever puts it to the test...

SEARCH button=ultimate engine swap

I would go SR in hindsight. More bang for your low-budget buck. RB bang will cost you a grip of money.

Retrospect, maybe the RB was not the way to go. BUT, I also am not sure I would do anything any differently either.

Maybe LS something swap?

That is hilarious.

I made it cry yesterday looking for rb20 custom intake manifold write-ups.

Personally, the rb20 wins by the coolness factor and by the fact it has 2 more cylinders. I'm not biased or anything , but to me the engines perform so similar it is all personal preference. Although the the rb20 has 8 more valves, a shorter stroke, 6-cylinder orchestral glory, and is cheaper AT FIRST. The downside is that you inherently buy bigger/more parts (cams, cylinders, rods, valves, springs, coils, studs, blah blah) when upgrading the motor, it will cost you more money.

Drifting entails lots of high revving and long-term heat dissipation. At first the rb20det is not ready for the latter nor is the sr20. Buy a bigger radiator, low temp thermostat, n1 water and oil pump, electric fans, coolant temp gauge, and replace all water hoses. You will also want to rebuild either motors with aftermarket headgasket, and headstuds--(if you do the sr20det you will want the rocker-arm stoppers and if you do the rb20det you will want to do the crank collar modification). My two cents if you really wanted to drift.

which one will take it better will depend on you to a degree. will you spend the money need to to properly build a drift car.

I WOULD NEVER GO BACK AND DO A SR20 - RB25DET ALL THE WAY! I CANT TAKE THE MONWY WITH ME WHEN I DIE SO I AM HAVING FUN WITH IT WHEN I HAVE IT!

long term is relative.both will last very long time, if you take good care of it and not take it to the edge all the time; things will break, just with any high powered engine.

if it was me and i was on a budget i would just build a ka24det for drift but thats just me, if it was a low dollar swap i would choose the rb20det just because you can pick em up for around $900 bucks and they have more torque then the sr20 wich will come in handy for drifting. good luck on your decision

i bought my RB25det for 2000 shipped with transmission and wiring.i would say you are not looking hard enough if you can not find a RB20 for less than 2000..

both will blow up drifting eventually.

the question you need to ask is which one is easier to get parts for, and easier to rebuild.

I have bought 2 RB20 motorsets with harness no transmission for $750 ... with transmission for another $150 - $200 ... They are really nice daily drivers and weekend fun motors ... really nice on the gas and I passed emissions at stock boost.Several of my friends have SR20 motors ... payed a bit more but they seem just as reliable ... it all boils down on how much you wanna pay up front.

like honestly and personally i know biggamehit i have seen his kat and its a wonder and its is holding up pretty well . i have a ca and its a fun little thing but just as biggmehit im looking to get me an rb im shooting for a 25 , and reason being im making enough money to buy break and rebuild and pay off for a r6 , so when it all boils down its where you want to take this and how much your willing to invest in your craft?

I would go SR if i were you, it may be a little more expensive in the beginning but for the longrun it will be cheaper once u begin to mod. Plus its Driftastic!
