i saw a basic rundown of things that could cause idle issues in another thread, mines idling as high as 2500rpm in the mornings it seems after cutting it off and letting it sit, it will settle down to 1500, and SOMETIMES 1000-1100TPS has been calibrated, and looks to be operating normally last we chcked. i dont know where else to look now, can someone giver me somethings that could cause it? i was thinking the electronic idle contol mmight need to be fixed/cleaned, but i dont know where that is on this motor :P

try unplugging, removing, and cleaning the AAC (Auxiliary Air Controller).

It's on the back side of the upper intake manifold... all the way back near the firewall.

try some carb cleaner. It works really nice.

Once you have it back on, use the screw on the AAC unit to adjust idle speed.

check for boost leaks first, that will cause a high idle, its the ECU's way of compensating for leaky air to increase the rpms..

tps isnt set.even tho its supposed to be speced to .5v the idle switch isnt always engaged round there.take a multimeter and put it onto the continuty setting and unplug the plug thats on the tps body its self, jumper the middle and lower prongs and rotate the tps till you hit continuity.

yes a q45 tps will work, but you have to swap the wot/idle switch connector.i should know i was the one who found it out.the connector on the tps body is for wot switch (automatic only) and the idle switch.if the idle switch isnt engaged when the tb is closed then its gonna idle like crap and not run right.

those numbers are definately wrong. iirc it should be just over 4v at wot and like .4 at idle. the idle i'm not sure of. the tps is adjustable so make sure that it did not jump positions. my car was running like a$$ and i got had my new tps in the car. so i stopped in the turn lane and switched it out and after using my meter and a wrench to adjust, i pulled away and smoked a 911 at the next light

i appreciate your input and hope this is the proble, but we set the TPS using the consult to moniter proper position. was that the wrong way to do it?

which is what im getting at.you can set the tps to the right spec of .5v closed but if the tps idle switch isnt engaged its not gonna idle right at all.my tps is set to .43v closed but thats where the idle switch engages so w/e it works so leave it be.

well i got my consult on and the AAC value never changes. i was told that was the idle control, so im guessing its clogged or broken. im gonna try to clean/replace it and see what happens

is there some cross reference part so that i might be able to grab one froma junkyard?

if the idle is up and down and sometimes at like 2000 then its not the tps ... its the aac valve .. unhook the thing and adjust the idle to around 7-800rpm and leave it .. if the surging stops then the aac is bad .. sometimes even cleaning them dont work as the little spring inside gets weak and no longer keeps a tight fit (as in my case) causing a mess of odd symptoms that will leave you chasing every diff possibility ... trust me unplug the aac and try it .. if that works then buy a new aac or one that is known to work ... does not matter the miles/kms on it .. its the age on the spring and being in a position for a long time causing it to lose its form ...

oops i didnt fully read the post lol well im glad you got it fixed .. ill leave the above post for future ref for people who are not as lucky as you ..

thanks clet
