What are the lengths of the Mckinney Mount kit driveshaft compared to the Core Performance Mount kit. Will they work interchangably with each other? Just trying to get a reference of differences between where each kit places the engine in the bay, if any at all. Anybody have the shafts lengths or have had custom ones made for these kits?

We just have custom ones made for our swaps, I would say whatever companies mounts you use, use their driveshaft or if you have a local shop that can do it, have them make you a custom one. We did the one for the Takara Motors car.

I'm not trying to decide which ones to use, as I have the Top Hat/ Core mount kit. I'm having my shaft made custom locally. I just wanted to know in comparison of lengths of the driveshafts between different companies who make the mount/driveshaft kits if there was any placment difference of the engine/transmission in the bay. For example if one is shorter than the other than obviosuly one sits the drivetrain further back than the other. Just didn't know if anyone had any numbers from their driveshaft lengths whether custom made or purchased along with kit to compare.

just measure the distance, or talk to your local transmission shop, and have them tell you the kind of measurement they want...

(basically, install teh motor and transmission first, with the mount kit, then measure)

I used a driveshaft shop 1 piece steel for KA with the core mounts (RB20) It just barely fit...

okay, i think everyone is getting my idea wrong. I know how to measure a drive shaft, and I will when I get my engien/transmission in, BUT I was just trying to go by driveshaft lengths used by other people and various install kits for the RB25DET just to get an idea if most the mount kits out there posistion them in the same place, or is one kit a few inches more forward or back....

Anybody understand my idea?

I have used the Core mounts and a stock crossmember, but never the McKinney mounts. With the stock crossmember, the stock S13 manual driveshaft fit OK. When using the Core mounts, I had to have the driveshaft shortened by 2 inches, but it only cost $70 for shortening and balancing.
