What did I say that isn't true? If you use Mckinney mounts you have to dent the firewall for starter clearance. It was in their color instructions.

I have read alot of this forum and I wonder why you are anti-mounting kit? Don't get me wrong, If people want to use the RB crossmember, then they should do that. I found it much easier to use the Kit and other than making a small dent, it bolted up without any issues. The engine sits low enough to clear the hood and I didn't have to mess with the steering rack, sway-bar or anything else.

For me, $650 for a kit (http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com) that makes everything line up and saves install time was well worth it.

For you, using the RB crossmember works, I say go for it. I can see advantages both ways. Pulling the engine and transmission from the bottom may be easier, but I figure I saved that time by not having to reverse the steering rack.

I got my wiring harness back today from Mckinney Motorsports !!I will try to finish up the install this weekend, but it will probably be more like the next two weekends. Once I am done, I have a digital camera, so I should be able to post some pics. I have seen nice pictures here, so I may clean my engine up a little first :)

i used unstable hybrid's mount kit, and i didn't have to dent the firewall, or cut the hood frame, and my JIC upper strut bar fits on perfectly. Of course this is an S14....not an S13. i just thought i would add my 2 cents. I think mounts kits are the "wave of the future". The engine just sits sooo much nicer. Oh, and i used the side mount intercooler with all the stock piping, and IT FIT as well. now i just need some rims that will clear 300zx brakes.

Did any of you guys have Mckinney do the wiring? I got the harness back yesterday and there is a long blue wire that has does not have a connector on the end. I emailed them, but I figured one of you guys might know where it goes.

I used the RB cross member and STILL had to dent the firewall/trans tunnel to clear the starter. I also had to cut the hood. I used the sidemount intercooler and it does fit behind the bumper. Wherever you heard these lies, they arent true

It cost me $1150 for the mounts and driveshaft. $350 for the wiring and they had it done in less than two weeks from the time they got my wiring harness. Basically they told me, they do it as fast as the can, but it depends on how many they are working on.It was well worth the money. Email them and they can send you a price list. They offer other stuff as well.

i have to take some pictures. I put the car up in my shop until i get the rims i need, so i can clear the JIC suspension and the 300zx brakes(front and rear). I'll wash the engine up and take some pics...any particular angles you want?

It doesnt bog at all, I didnt hook mine up and its fine. The motor bogs from the fans and the rear window deforster, if I have the heater full blast, and the rear defroster on I gotta watch it coming up to a light or it bogs REAL bad...steering doesnt seem to affect it too much though.

Something that's been bugging me but nobody would answer...it's about the fans.

You said you modified Flex-a-Lite fans. Are they push or pull?

I just wanted to give a progress update. This weekend I installed the stock side mount intercooler into my S13. Kids, don't try this at home. It was a pain in the butt, and I should have went front mount. I had to bend, grind, cut, dremel on everthing. At least I proved to myself it could be done.

I started working on the lower portion of the engine wiring harness, and manged to break the stud off of the starter... Hopefully I can pillage the 240 motor for a replacement.

I am going to have to get a replacement radiator hose, as the RB's lower pipe is bigger than the 240's. (Any suggestions would be appreciated)

Hopefully this coming weekend, I will get the wiring harness installed and fire it up..

Very helpful thread.

On the wiring though, how hard can it be. Arent there like 5-6 wires that need to be lengthened and thats it?

THE O2 AND MAF SENSORS NEED TO BE LENGTHEND, THE FUEL PUMP LINE NEED TO BE RUN, SOME CHASSIS INTEGRATION NEEDS TO BE DONE, AND THE TACH AND WATER TEMP LINES NEED TO BE ATTACHED TO THE CLUSTER.

I am sure that if I sit down and draw it out that it will be pretty easy. I have done worse.

do a search for "your 8 step program to your RB25 starting" opensource shows you how to do the wiring. For me I took the easy route, and had Mckinney do the wiring. It cost $350, but I know it will work, and I think it was well worth it.
