awesome threads ... the bmw e30 is the german hachi roku (only the m3 version) ... one thing i dont get .... why dont they use a corossion free car .... here in germany you pay 2000$ for a complete clean car with 40k miles on it.

did you just compare a e30 m3 to a god damned corolla?

i should ban you on principal. the E30 is LEAPS AND BOUNDS a better car than the 86 will EVER BE.

hi, your resident ******* moderator joe here.

if you honestly cant find the answer to that question with google, you will never finish this swap. before you attack me, crossplatform swaps are NOT jokes, i know because i own one. and completed it myself. they are NOT easy. they generally require a large amount of fabrication, time and knowledge of cars, engines, and general theory about cars.

just because its been done, dosent mean its possible for the average person.

im not discourgaging you from doing it, but you need to be CRYSTAL clear on what has to be done, and how much money its going to cost. the little things will cost you as much as the engine sometimes, and if you dont know how **** works, it will never run right. fuel system, driveshaft, transmission tunnel, wiring, hoses, etc. just the tip of the iceberg that has to be done.

again, im not trying to tell you, you cant do it. im just trying to make you realize the magnitude of what youre doing. something like this nobody will spoon feed you answers to your every question, because people just dont know. so you are forced to fend for yourself and figure it out. thats why you need all the knowledge on electrical systems, mounting, etc.

cross platform stuff is fun, but HARD work.

Comparing swapping a b16 into a crx with doing an rb in an e36 is like comparing climbing the hill in your back yard to mt everest, they are the same idea but one takes years of work instead of an afternoon. It sounds like a fun swap and good luck with it.

Knowing this is the RB sub-forum, I'm just prepared.*dons flame suit*

1JZ == USDM vehicle == parts available in stores here.

No need to remember or find what parts cross-reference, as long as it had that motor (Lexus / Toyota) you can find parts all day. I don't know the prices of them though - not a fan of 'Toys'. This is all from a parts replacement state of mind.

Just my $0.02.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 1JZ was never sold in the USDM market.

That's the 2.5L inline 6 from the soarers and jdm supras.

The 2JZ (3.0L 6 cyl from the MK4 supra) was sold in the USDM market.

yup. 1jz-gte = 2.5 I6, TT. non US market. i think alot of people think the mk3 supra had the 1jz, when it actually had the 7mgte.

Well, I stand corrected. It shows how much I know about Toyota motors!

I thought the 1JZ-GE was in the Altezza / Soarer, but it was in fact the 2JZ-GE. I just remember guys turbo-ing them.

I remembered the 7M was in the Mk3 Supra. That pretty much extends my knowledge on Toyota's! I'll be quiet now..

I retract my previous statement, your on your own between RB20 and 1JZ. Go RB25!
