S13, stock injectors, turbo, bov, r33 gauges, Walbo 225 pump, 9 psi. Started a month ago but only would happen once a week. Now it all but leaves me sit. Sometimes when coming to a stop the car stalls. But when I'm driving it doesn't matter if its at wot or barely on the gas the engine dies out just like the key is switched off. Nothing else dies like lights or gauges but it will either completely shut off or if I leave the clutch out it will come back to life after a second or sometimes longer. I don't have a wideband, but when it does come back to life it doesn't " pop" or backfire so I don't think its ignition related, but then again thts why I'm posting this long drawn out post. Anybody run into this before??? Local drag strip is having a test and tune day this weekend and would love to make it. thanks in advance guys.

Sounds like an IACV issue. Have you wired in the Consult port?

That is a typical symptom of a MAF going bad. Seen it happen on 2 different cars (including mine). Other was an SR. Car will just die like someone took the key out. If you have a powerFC or something you will see the MAF suddenly go to 0v. Try swapping your MAF. don't bother cleaning it, it doesn't do anything in my experience.

If you have a stock ECU, you need to source an RB25 MAF.

Hit up a scrap yard locally, doesnt Rb25 S2 run pink label MAF E60? E60 come on I think 95/96+ Maxima, J30, I30, q45. I know older q45s and J30s ran N62 Maf. might have to repin plug connector.

Matt.

I found the clap right after the maf sensor was very loose but the turbo inlet pipe did not become disconnected. Maybe pulling unmetered air?
. Going to test drive later tonight.

Tighten the clamp and still have the problem but it is very ver seldom. So I would agree, thinking its a maf issue. Out of all the views and no opinions, I want to say thanks to you guys that did respond and helped me out. Guess I will look in the for sale forum for a maf, or just wait to hook up my u-tec turbo xs piggyback ecu

check the color of the label of your MAF. The green label is pretty easy to find. Probably less than $50 shipped.

Even if you hook up your u-tec, you'll still need a working MAF. unless it converts to map or something? Or uses some aftermarket maf?

Yes sir green label. Ya I know I need a working one to get my driveability issue fixed and also to tune it properly. Just didn't know 100% if this is my problem area or not. But couldn't hurt to replace. I have another post up about everyones opinion on the u-tec but no one seems to have one. Do u? And thank you for the info.

any details on the u-tec? You're referring to the turboxs one? I thought they are car/engine specific, and last I checked they don't even make one for RBs. that might be why no one knows anything about it... I thought they mainly do subarus and a a few genesis/350zs

Ya that's the one. It came off of my buddies sti but from what he said its not specific. I don't know yet. I got it for free.99 so if it doesn't work it will be going to ebay I guess.

Bump. Did you ever get this fixed? I'm having the same issue. From a cold start I turn it on idles for a few minutes blips like its going to die. Couple seconds later it dies. Starts back up just fine though.

Gentlemen it is the maf. I'd start there and work on checking vacuum leaks then to ignition. Usually maf though. Happens during normal operating temps achieved it just dies and leaves you stranded until it cools down a bit then back to normal startup conditions
