I am aware that when swapping my RB25, I will need motor mounts. I know that various MFG's (McKinney, TopHat, etc.) produce sets, but what is the difference between them? Just MFG? I'm looking for stock - mild performance mounts, nothing for race. Note: I have the full half-car, if the stock units can be used...) Yeah, I know this is kinda n00bish... Thanks.

not much difference, i bought McKinney mounts they have worked great, either way you should be getting quality, you can also use the front crossmember from an r32/r33 and make that work, the motor will sit higher and more forward but will cost you a lot less... the choice is yours.

Is this my mistake or is the topic poster uninformed. It was my understanding that you would only need a motormount kit with an RB26, when I read information on my RB25 it didn't mention anything about needing mounts...

yea..."fit properley" is relative

im using a r33 crossmember and r33 mounts. you have to cut the hood skeleton if you use the stock intake manifold but it saves you 300-600$.

Wurd. Thats what I did. 130 bucks for R33 crossmember and mounts then 300 total for the driveshaft, cut the hood up a little bit and it fits fine. I didnt even have an issue with the steering rack, which I guess can be an issue sometimes.

Gomer,

If I am reading you right, I do not nessicarily need to use different mounts? I can use the stock X-member & stock mounts and be fine? (well, a little cutting of the hood, no biggie.) That would be t eh sex!

Gomer, where'd you get the xmember and such from? Seems like the way to go if I don't want to spend a bunch.

Did you actually try that? i had a feeling it would create proper fitment.. but i wanted confirmation before i pick up the rest of the r32 mounting stuff.

I sold eric (gomer) my crossmember from my clip and I sold it to him a lot cheaper than $130, but that's all relative to what you can find. haha he made out like a bandit only because I'm a kick-*** guy! jk

Personally, I bought the top hat mounts for my S14 and they were NOT a bolt-in deal. I had to ream out the existing crossmember slot as well as drill another holel for each mount. There has to be something better fitting out there for the S14, but I finally fit mine in there by bench pressing the motor + transmission into place. I have a hood clearance issue (at the BOV) that I will hopefully deal with tomorrow if I'm not hungover. There have been many comments on this topic already so a search will reveal a lot more info than what I can splurge here.
