Helping a friend with some issues on his 93 hatch with a RB25 swap. The alternator is not charging, curious what alternators can be used on his RB.

Had the same problem with my 25 after I did a headgasket and some stuff, I just took it to a normal alternator rebuild place and they were able to do it, the brushes are all that really needs replacing typically and those are pretty universal, only cost me $60

The alternator does not take a charge but it still charges, as in "The alternator is not charging the battery."

I believe it to be proper. It is a charging system, there for charging. Its a generator. I work with many types. The only difference is the prime mover. Or is that not proper as well?
