we have recently purchased a project from a person who gave up on it. rb20 head on a 30 block. the engine runs but only on 4 cylinders. we have tried the following replacements, cam angle sensor, module on top of head at firewall, i think this is ignition module , coil packs, spark plugs, coil pack wiring harness, could it be the computer, does it control the spark feeds individually from ecu to module. has anyone had this happen? help me , john in australia.

Hey John, your problem could be in numerous places. First check all the vitals: compression, injector pulse, spark, etc. on those cylinders that are not producing anything.

From there you can start narrowing down the possibilities. If you suspect its a coil swap them around and see if the problem moves to a new cylinder.

Testing out the CAS is as simple as pulling it out and turning the shaft to see if it sends the proper signal to each injector and coil. (Search for that one).

Spend about an hour looking into the problems from there take about an hour searching here to trouble shoot. Should get you going in the right direction.

Cheers!
