i just bought a 1995 240sx. there is a terrible rattle or ticking or knocking of something right under the valve cover. the engine doesnt do this all the time only at idle or letting off the throddle. it also has a miss but i think its the dis. cap. i was told to remove the top timing chain guide (metal plate) that will stop this rattle. is this true. do i need this cover? if i take this cover off and my car has 140,000 miles on it will it increase the chance of the chain having more problems or even breaking. someone help me please

probably the top guide. if you had searched it, you'd have seen it. Another thing that should be mentioned while going over stuff like this, is don't put "ahhh i need help!!" for the subject of this thread. when folks need to search, like you should have initially, putting "ahhh i need help!!" isn't what they're going to put in the search field.
