Where is the rattling coming from? I know my center stack where the climate control area meets the shifter console squeaks and makes me crazy. I tries squirting some WD-40 where they meet up, to no avail. I NEED to make this stop, its the one thing I hate about this car.

Rubbing plastics create the squeaking noises and they can be difficult to deal with. Varying temperatures, humidity, etc all play a role. I think the Rogue is about average when it comes to squeaks in dash plastics.

WD-40 is really not the best stuff to use. Lubes will eventually be displaced or dry out and the squeak will return. The dealer uses thin adhesive backed felt applied to key areas to prevent the rubbing. This is the most permanent fix. If your Rogue is new and under warranty (these items are typically covered under the 'adjustment period"), take it back to the dealer. They have the tools and products to eliminate the squeaks.

I actually hear this clicking sound someone were in the front that drives me crazy as well! almost like someone tapping a pen on a table!!! I think I narrowed it down to the drivers seatbelt jiggling in the lock, but im not 100% sure. I dont know how to make it stop!!!!

This is definitely my next step. I was going to go to Home Depot and pick some of that stuff up, not even thinking that squeaks would be a warranty issue. But I guess its "bumper to bumper" for a reason...lol

If you give more details we might be able to help you. Does it rattle all the time, only when cold, at highway speeds or city speeds or both? Where does the rattle sound like it's coming from? If you pop the hood when it's idling, can you hear a rattle coming from the engine compartment?

I've had rattle issues with my Rogue and I traced the problem back to an exhaust heat shield at two different locations. If you take it to the dealer they can check on this for you, or give us some more detail and maybe we can help narrow it down.

I had/have (?) the exact same problem. I looked through everything and thought it might be the passenger seatbelt metal part hitting the plastic. But then I heard the noise while there was a passanger. Then I took out my sunglass from the sunglass holder. I haven't heard the noise for a while. But I am not sure whether it was caused by the sunglass or not. I took it to the dealership and they couldn't recreate the noise (not surprised). I also have a thought. The passenger windows are not fit in that good. So I am not sure it comes from there or not. Whatever it is, it is annoying.

Rattling has just started for you, on my 08:

1. center console rattle.
2. front passanger seat or seat belt???? don't know where.
3. rear seat at bracket I need to cushion the bracket with tape or something.

So far that is it (I think) after 30,000 miles, good luck.

I've pretty much given up trying to have the dealer fix the rattles in my car... Half the time, they either don't hear it, or they hear it, try to fix it, and it comes right back. This car has more rattles than any car my family has owned. It irritates me enough to where my next car most likely will not be a Nissan.

I think it's coming from the engine..And at times i feel what i hear in the gear shifter. At first i thought it was my license plate on the front rattling...but that wasn't it. I'm due for an oil change in a few weeks. Guess that visit will get a little more interesting! Not looking forward to it.

Well I can confirm that this rattling occurs at any rate of speed. Its more noticeable at around 40mph(plus). It's definitely coming from the front end. I've heard that it could be several different things..hoping it's nothing serious. I'm a mother of two and the last thing i need to worry about is car troubles..ie breaking down on the side of the road. Ugh!

had an issue with rattling from front of 2009 rogue sl awd...
turned out to be hood rattling...shoved a piece of dense form between the top of grill and hood (a bit thicker than the factory rubber stops)...rattle is gone...

Amberella, Is the rattle occured when you are light on the throttle, with the engine at about 1200 rpms?

If that is the case, it is just the engine lugging, saving you some fuel by being the most efficient possible.
That is what I am aiming all the time and yesterday, I have just looked at the MPH part of the speedometer and I got some vibration even at that speed. I thought before that it will stop at a lower speed. 40 mph doesn't mean much to me.

If that is the case, it is normal. If you don't like it, step a bit on the gas, change speed more often,... but you will lose some fuel economy.

If that is not the case, sorry to not be able to help you more.

These are all good ideas to brainstorm, and Pescakl1 is right that you can get a slight vibration under the conditions he described, but you should not hear a rattling sound ever.

Any rattling should be investigated and remedied, and I'm interested to hear what the dealer discovers with Amberella's Rogue, as she indicates that it makes the rattle at all speeds and is particularly bad above 40 mph. The good news is that it seems to be easy to replicate so the dealer shouldn't respond with the dreaded "can't replicate problem" response! I'm going to guess that it's just a loose heat shield rattling around...I get a pretty severe metallic rattling sound from my engine compartment intermittently, most often when the weather is very cold. I was quite worried about it the first few times I heard it, as it sounded like my engine was about to rattle apart, but I decided to relax and just drive it relying on the comfort of my warranty should it become a serious problem. A few months later and the problem hasn't really gotten worse so I figure I'll just continue to relax, but one day I would like to figure this out.

Amberella, please let us know what the dealer discovers and what the fix is, thank you!

About the low speed vibrations...I read a post from a guy that had to have two vent control valves replaced because of ethenol in the gas. That's what the mechanic told him the cause was. So, I decided to read up on non ethanol gas and have used it in my last two tanks. I've noticed that the low speed vibration has all but disappeared, after being so annoying, even the dealership said they could feel the vibration all over the car. Would there be any mechanical reason why this would clear this problem almost immediately? I can actually accelerate smoothly now, and I have witnesses, that experienced the vibration before, but now agree it's gone. I've got around 1700 miles on the car, so I don't know if it's just breaking in really well, or if the gas has anything to do with it...any ideas? I still feel the hesitation, but no vibration. I'm getting much better gas milage as well..of course the gas costs about 8 cents more per gallon, but I got over 400 miles on my last tank in mostly light city driving conditions with some rural.

Oh so here's the latest with the rogue. I recently had an oil change. Spoke to the service dept and made them aware of the issue and asked if that issue could be addressed at the same time. I have a 30 minute drive to work and then another 45 to get to the dealership..so going in for service and up keep usually turns into a all day thing. So i arrive on time and was told that not only would that issue be addressed but I needed to take advantage of the service for life maintenance program in order to keep the victory for life customer agreement valid. 145 $ later and at the register checking out..the same person that told me the issue would be handled informed me that the mechanic that serviced my car had left for lunch and made no mentioned of even looking into the rattling so he suggest that i drive it down the road to see and if not to rested. And i explained to him that I live over an hour away and finding time to rested wouldn't be easy. Then he suggested that i just take it in to the local dealership closest to me because he thinks "it" should be covered under the manufactures warranty. Needless to say i was very disappointed and unsatisfied. So as of now still rattling ....:(

Well. For those of you that i may have left hanging..sorry! I finally resolved the rattling issue. Turns out that somehow a metal piece on my under carriage that surrounds the Axel was bent..and because my car was out of alignment ( long story) the vibrations caused it to rattle against another piece of metal. Thank goodness this issue is taken care of...I was starting to go crazy! If you care to know the rest of the story I'll be glad to fill you in. Thanks for the tips and concern. Take care

My brand new Rogue has RATTLES from at least 3 consistent places in the dashboard. Wish I would have test drove this exact vehicle longer on a rougher road. When I drive on a bumpier road at 40 or faster, they start up and drive me nuts. Brand new car and feel like I'm driving a cheap old rattle. So disappointed. Seems like I little thing, but it's literally in front of my face. I can't ignore it.

noises like this are common amongst cars. from american, to asian = all across the board. "economy" cars are going to give it to you. i drove a brand new suburban and guess what = rattled like a children's toy. my 2002 nissan maxima was rattle free, but those are the good old days where auto makers were not pressed by the Feds for good MPG's, and the dollar was worth more.
my fathers 2008 e350 van that he uses for his limo business, had to be gutted and tons of felt applied on all the contact points between the plastics.

follow my guide here for a quick and easily center console DIY:
diy-center-console-shifter-bezel-squeak ... 54008.html

PEOPLE GET USED TO SEEING CARS CUTTING BACK. OBAMA INSTILLED STRICT EPA LAWS THAT MANDATE HIGHER MPG'S ON CARS, AND THAT MEANS CARS SEEKING TO REDUCE WEIGHT ANYWAY THEY CAN. THINNER BRAKE ROTORS(will warp faster) CHEAPER LIGHTER BRAKE PADS(will wear faster) THINNER PLASTICS(will make noises) LESS PAINT LAYERS(will burn/scratch easier) ETC

something metal, in a plastic tray. its probably something you put into the car.

if not: adjust hood bushings, trunk bushings, or the rear seat.

I recently purchased a 2012 Rogue. I am having the same noise coming from what sounds like the front driver's side under the hood. Has anyone found the source of this rattle? The dealer has tried a few things with no result.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Apparently today after taking it back to the dealer twice, it was the hood latch. There is a cable that hangs down and it was rattling along with the hood not being as tight as it needs to be, so far the sound is gone!!
