Hello, I am looking for some information on what could be the problem. When I accelerate I hear a rattling vibration sound. It sounds like it is coming from underneath the car towards the front. I made sure I was using premium gas to rule out anything to do with cheap gas. The performance of the car seems to be the same. The noise is most evident when I step on it a little heavy. The car is a 2007 M35x, I have 68,000 miles on the car. I have had zero issues with the car so far.
Any information that you could provide would be appreciated.
Thanks!

sounds like your heat shield on your exhaust system is loose... I had a rattle and stuffed some steel wool there and no. more rattle.... take a piece of wood and gently tap until you hear an odd noise... you'll know it when you hear it... then put the steel wool to cushion it so it doesn't vibrate anymore... :chuckle: :chuckle:

Found the following TSB ITB13-008:
Description: 2009-2013 ALL INFINITI MODELS; CLICKING NOISE FROM FRONT OR REAR AXLE DURING TAKE-OFF/ACCELERATION
Customers concern of a “clicking” noise coming from either left or right front/rear axles during take-off/acceleration.

There looks like no word of what really causing that nor how to repair, but may want to show it to your local dealer to see if they can search on it

Its the Y-Pipe that rattles. Common problem with Nissans. my altima also has the same problem as my M.
It occurs around 2,000 - 2,500 RPM?

^^What SplitsenseM35 said^^ I too have that rattle/rasp at those RPM's and it's the Y-pipe. My guess is the issue is rust and corrosion.

I'm having the same issue. What exactly did you have to do to fix this? I've seen the previous comments but did you find a broken weld or was it something else?

The other thing to check is for small rocks on the heat shield. They get tossed up there in the normal course of driving and can rattle like crazy. Cleaning them off fixed my rattle a couple of times.

Every single nissan does this i still don't know why my m45 does it. It sounds like it's coming from the transmission but Idk for years I can't pin point it

I also had this issue with a rattling sound around 3000 rpm and going from 2nd gear to 3rd. I put my ride on jacks and had someone hold the idle at 1000 rpm's and i listened to everything possible underneath the car. I checked all the exhaust heat shields and fittings, removed all rocks from them and was still hearing the rattle. I got around to the Transfer Case and I heard the rattle. I listened to the torque converter and didn't hear anything out of the ordinary. So I was able to pinpoint it to the Transfer Case. It does have gears and bearings and per the FSM it could be a source of a bad bearing or gear(chain). I'm in the process of swapping it out, trying to get it done during the week.

Have you gotten under the car to try to listen for it?
