I have a 91 240 SX that I am trying to bring back. I just bought this car and the problem is, whenever I get to about 7-10 MPH, it creates this rattleing sound. When I start going into 1st gear or when i brake it does this rattleing sound whenever it is in this zone. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this?

Sounds like an exhaust heat shield if it's vibrating everytime you hit a specific RPM, but the braking and accelerating part leaves me wondering.

I think its coming from the transmission. it sounds like something is flapping or loose. and it only happens at that low range, whether i am starting in 1st gear or brakeing really hard. it sounds like its coming from right under the stick real loud.

i have that same problem but it's a shaking feeling for me...whenever i'm in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear and the rpm is below 2k rpms...ever since i changed my clutch. it feels like the transmission is stalling or vibrating or something and it would seem like it's going to stall, but it doesn't..it just shakes. anyone have a solution?

check your drive shaft and center support bearing real good gunclap.

ladysx as nismo said yours sounds like exhuast by your second post it sounds like it migh be contacting the body of the car. check both your motor mounts and your trans mount maybe their soft and under extreme torq (accel from low speed or hard braking) it is hitting. also check all your exhaust hangers make sure they are in the correct position. if after market exhaust work has been done they are known to cut or alter existing hangers to make their s*** work.
