ok so the video is pretty crappy. so on my way to school, i had noticed a extra sound...ya...i opened the hood and noticed that it might be the chain. The sound came under only when i was off of the throttle. it pretty much sounds like marbles in a coffee can being shaking by a 2 year old on crack...ya THAT BAD. some info...umm on every start up there is a rattle. ya ya i know its the chain but it goes away right when oil pressure gets up so like 2 seconds of rattle then nothing. it still does it on start up but when im off of the throttle and when the RPMS come around 3k it starts but not sure if its the chain.

any help?

Dude there is absolutely no way of tellin what the sound is and where its coming from on that video, lol. When the timing chain tensioner goes out it is more of a gradual process. it sound like a constant light scraping noise. like when your bearings on a skateboard are starting to go out and you spin the wheel (sorry but thats the only analogy i could think of).

Could you be a little more specific about the noise. where's it coming from, how loud is it, does it sound like something rattling around, is it a constant or does it have irregularities

ya sorry again about that video. ok so the sound sounds like its coming from the cover. but it could also be coming from the valve cover. i cant pin point it. so iv noticed that if i only raise the rpms past 3k then let it fall. almost as if the tension in the chain lets off in that range then comes back. has anyone ever had this happen. also could it be a bad valve? and it really does sounds like alot of rattling. also, its load but again only when it comes around the 3k range. i havnt heard anything like this if its not the chain.

if its from the front of the cover, almost sounds like its from the fan, but not quite, then it is most likely your chain. get it done ASAP!!! i avoided this and guess what, my tensioner got caught into the chain and the chain broke! u dont want that, its the worst feeling...ever!

Sounds like when my timing went out. It would sound a chain slapping agains a cover and then one day it just didnt start. Def. get that checked soon. Its much easier to fix things before they break.

EDIT also get a long screw driver and put up to where you think the sound is comeing from then put your ear on the handle of the screw driver(like a stethoscope. Try and pin point it
