Rattling noise when starting for a few seconds

Hi

When I start my '03 Maxima, there is a rattling noise from engine for about 1 - 3 secs. It happens intermittently but usually froma cold crank start. I only use Mobil 1 Synthetic 5 X 30 since I got it

The car has only 60K Miles. What could this problem be and should I be worried about a costly repair job ?

i have seen 2 things cause a rattle in those cars. one being the belt tension for the alternator belt and when the timing chain tensioners are going bad (bleeding of pressure when sitting).

Thanks Much. I suspect it the latter , Is the timing chain Tensioner the same as the VTC Sprocket ?, there is a memo out there that the VTC Sprocket can be the cause of the rattle / bleed down.

I am asking Nissan to investigate this carefully and fix it, do you agree. ?

I think the job of changing the VTC Sprocket or work on the Valve train is a major repair job.
