Hi guys,

Does any of you notice some soft rattling noise on the altima coupe doors and/or some other parts of the car? I notice some rattling noise on the passenger side door and on the dashboard... pretty dissapointed with these noises...i'll try to complain to the dealer and see what they will do...

I got just my windows tinted and I noticed rattling in both doors after I drove the car back from the shop. Instead of bringing it back down there I'll take the panel off myself and take a look. I have a feeling that they missed something when putting it back together. It happens.

The rattling wasn't around before I got my windows tinted. Sounds like that really bother me. Take it in and see what they tell you.

Here goes ...

I had a squeaking noise (best way to describe) every time my car hit a bump (especially annoying on concrete portions of freeway). After some investigation I found that it was coming from 'around' the shift knob. I noticed if I simply laid my hand on it it went away. Instead of going through the trouble of taking it back to the dealer I simply pressed down firmly on all the plastic pieces surrounding the shift knob and all of a sudden I heard a 'snap' noise. Turns out it must have either come lose or wasn't all the way snapped in to begin with. Once I did that all was better.

Then about a week ago I started hearing this rattling noise whenever I hit a bump. I was on a drive about a hundred miles south of here to Columbus when it REALLY started bothering me (you tend to notice these noises more when driving farther distanced .... weird huh?). Well after getting nearly enraged and or pissed off because I couldn't figure out what it was ... I looked up to find out what it was! Right where the roof meets the moon roof at the front of it there is this little piece that is hot glued to divide the two well it had come loose and thats what was rattling. Since this one will involve re-gluing the piece I WILL take it to the dealership for repair.

This kind of miffs me but I guess it's to be expected in a new car model, etc. It just irks me that I paid top dollar and find things like this wrong. I guess it's better then having a serious problem with the engine or something though.

I am going to call right now to setup a service appointment. =)

How dark did you do the windows? I am doing mine this week and am still looking for options. In Ohio the legal limit is 50% ... I was thinking 50% front and 35% rears. But I'm afraid they will look too different and give it an odd effect.

Yeah... it's very annoying... They can at least make sure stuff is put correctly... Does anyone has rattling noise on the dashboard? On the door, I think it can be fixed rather easily, but on the dashboard?

50% is not much of a tint. Too bad you can't go darker.I have 32% on the front windows and 22% on the back windows of my '06 Altima, and it looks great.P.S. The lower the percentage, the darker the tint.Try 35% all around and see if they dare stop you.Good luck.

Your not even going to notice 50% tint on your windows. Just do 35% all around. I have 5% all around. I like it very much

We got 35% (illegal in CA) all the way around and it looks great. There are so many cars w/ less the 35% tint in CA, we would be the last to be pulled over. You can still see in, so I think you would be safe.

35% is probably the best, especially in Cali. I had that on my older Volvo and it was awesome. Not too dark but not too bright, just right.

I got my car tinted at 35%, the legal limit in TN. But when I talked to the guy who tinted my car, he mentioned that in a few months 3m will have a new tint out that changes depending on the lighting conditions. IE if it's sunny out side, the windows will darken, and at night they will lighten to improve visibility. Kinda like those color change lenses in glasses... I wish I waited to get that changing tint, but man it's hot here.

Just to make sure, you guys know that the tint with 50% metal might, or might not, interfere with your AM FM Radio/cell phone/GPS/Satellite radio...

But wow, 50% is the legal limit in Ohio...geez...

To be somewhat on topic, nothing has been rattling in my car...hope you get urs fixed!

I've heard some vibrating noises on my car too, mainly from the driver door, one day I noticed the plastic grey thing was loose, I just pressed it in and everything is fine. The other noise is when there is someone in the back seat on the driver's side, mainly in the highway the seat belt makes a vibrating sound, I don't pay much attention to that one since somebody rarely sits there.

I've noticed rattling in the dash on the passenger side -- it's actually between the edge of the glove compartment and the passenger door. It comes and goes but is definitely annoying in a brand new car.

I had the same problem too with the plastic clip where the vent shade closes. Mine also broke off. Did your dealer fix it? As for mine, they went ahead and order another headliner cause they were saying that the plastic clip goes with the headliner. This part holds up the headliner as well, according to them. Let me know what resulted in your case about the plastic clip?

Thanks,

Tony

I just noticed a very slight rattle coming from the driver door. Its not very loud, but since its right next to my ear its very noticable. God this car has so many rattles and the paint issue its almost making me regret buying it

I here a noise when I have the music higher than the 20 on the volume. It comes from the passenger door. I have to pull the door towards the drivers side and it goes away. I guess the panel is not tightened correctly. I agree thpugh, it is not a big noise but its annoying because the car is new.

Timmy, if you can find my old posts, and follow them regarding my warranty issues, you will be reassured to know that you're not alone in the problems you are facing. I discovered the headliner issue in August, just 2 months after I bought my car and I discovered it the same way when that stupid clip dis-attached and started moving around in the sunroof area....they replaced it with a whole new headliner and a month later it starting sagging again, but this time it wasn't the clip. I've seen that Nissan used sticky velcro strips to keep the headliner in place around the sunroof area. I was appauled at the CHEAPNESS of their fit and finish.....After my cousin and I picked up his brand new G37 and drove back from NY to TO and inspected his interior; the Japanese have done such a superior job with the fit and finish than these American made Nissans.

I always regret that this car wasn't assembled in Japan like the Infiniti's. The Muranos, Rogues, 350z are all assembled in Japan too!! Yah in theory although there shouldn't be any "differences" in where the cars are assembled, there actually IS a difference. Quality control in America is $HIT compared to Japan ( I guess you'd only have to be a NON-American to even consider that a possibility, for those who don't) Believe it or not, but IMO, there is a big difference between the American workers and Japanese workers....I think the Japanese are more meticulous when it comes down to the assembly line. Reminds me of the old movie GUNG HO (1986 - Micheal Keaton)...lol.....neways man hope it works out for you. JUST MAKE SURE WHEN YOU GET THE NEW HEADLINER THAT IT ISN'T SAGGING FROM THE REAR DOME LIGHT. I had to go in twice after I got the new headliner installed and they had to use some kind of adhesive to make it stay firmly in place.

PS - Don't get me wrong folks, I'm not hating on Americans, I mean here in Canada; there are Acura CSX's (Canadian exclusive based on the EL) that are assembled in Alliston, Ontario and I'm not sure how well their quality is compared to say the TSX or TL from Japan.

How come the Altima is UNIQUE to North America and Middle East but it doesn't even sell in Japan??? ...

I had some rattling on the passenger side as well--it was the metal clip of the seatbelt bouncing against the passenger side door.

I have been toying around with designing some type of attachment that will keep it from bouncing around.

My quick solution:

Pull the metal clip up as far as you can.

That stopped the noise for me.

Other than that, it appears that errrythang you place in a compartment tends to rattle. I plan to pad the door and center compartments with dressor drawer or kitchen drawer lining. That should do the triznic!

Guys have you noticed creaking sounds coming from the stereo bracket? The plastic right underneath, above the flip open compartment and under the temperature control - that part in my car creaks when I press on it. But it creaks alot when going over bumps - QUITE annoying. I've also heard miniscule noises from the driver's side door...but only sometimes....but maybe I'm just starting to be too picky....
