Hi everyone.

Ever since I installed the Stillen cat-back system, I have been getting a rattling noise from the 3rd brake light (it took me a while to figure out where the noise came from) when the car is running at low RPM, specially around 3000 RPM.

Has anyone with a aftermarket exhaust system experience this noise? It is annoing. After all, I can't drive around with loud music all the time .

My car does the same thing but it is pretty much stock other than the intake and hood dampers. The light housing just kind of sits a little bit loose but the rattling comes and goes, I was planning on putting a piece of felt or a piece ov rubber between the housing and the rear window but the rattling isnt always there so I havent messed with it yet. But I am willing to guess it is not the exhausts that is the cause because I like to play my music loud and it will rattle the housing for a while and then go away so its nothing to worry about but its your call.

Don't waste your time fellas with felt tape. I have had my car into the dealer 10 times for this issue, and it is going back tomorrow. I am pretty sure I have narrowed it down to the housing itself, not the housing rattling against the deck. I think it is the lense covering the lights in the housing that is rattling. I will post an update once I get this back from the dealer.

Try playing around with the little plastic piece that surrounds the lock under the cover on the rear deck, you know the one where it lets you put ur key in so you can lock or unlock the backseats. Mine is loose as well as one whole side of the top deck.....but its most likely because of the fool who installed my roof liner...getting this fixed too......

Not to go off topic but do any of you also get a tick sound when you open your door? The bolt/bracket that holds the door to the body of the car shifts a little when I open the door making a tick sound...and I've even seen the bracket move...they always lubricate all my latches and hinges and I think the grease made the bolt become loose..will have to re-tighten it, but I want the dealer to do it so I can point out the issue...

I had a bad rattle coming from the rear deck. I figured out that it was the thrid brake light as well as the covers for the child seat latches. I used felt tape on the covers, and used electric tape on the third brake light. I put the tape on the rear deck, between the light housing and then deck. This solved the problem instantly. I was so glad i hate rattles!!

Thank you. I might try that. But my issue could be different. I took out the whole 3rd brake light, and I hit it with my finger, and I can hear the rattle, but can't see what is causing it.

I have the same problem! This rattle is so loud at times it makes me hate my new car. I have taken my car to the dealer but they always say the same thing…nothing is wrong and they don’t hear any sound. The sound comes from the back, it kind of sounds like a rock is bouncing around in a steal pot. I also get a squeaky sound from the dash but its not nearly as loud and annoying as the back. I’m going to try the things mention here and hopefully it works. Thanks to all!

Try removing it and putting it back on. I know there was a thread to do this somewhere to.
