Guys, I've been noticing this clicking/rattling noise coming from my left side view mirror on my almost 3 month old Rogue. It's more pronounced when I'm travelling on roads where there are a slight bumps. This is when I have my windows rolled down only, can't hear the noise when the windows is all the way up. But, it's very annoying and I like to have the windows down when the weather is nice. I have made visual physical inspection of the side view mirror and also compared the tightness with the right side view mirror but nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Anyone else having similar issue? Should I take it to the dealer to have it looked at?

All kidding aside, if I were to hazard a guess, it sounds like you have a screw loose. Unless you feel comfortable opening the mirror housing yourself, I'd take it in and let the guys in the shop do it.

Is it easy to open the housing? I'm pretty good with tools, but if it's a big job I rather take it to the dealer.

Ok, I looked up a video on youtube that shows taking off the side view mirror on a Murano, I'm guessing it should be very similar on the Rogue as well. Another thing I want to say is the noise is actually more of a ticking noise on bumps, could be a screw inside the housing? However, the housing itself seems to be held on to the door quiet nicely, it's not lose or anything.

I think your Rogue and mine were built at the same plant on the same day. I'm getting a similar rattle, but with the windows rolled up, and it sounds like it's coming from the driver's side B pillar. It's just behind my left ear, which annoys the crap out of me. The sound is a creaky rattle, exactly the same as you describe it, and occurs mostly on roads that are not perfectly smooth. I also notice it's a bit louder when the passenger side wheels are going over bumpy pavement compared to the driver side wheels. I now have around 3300 miles, and I first noticed this around 2700 or so.

I'm also getting some clicking and ticking sounds from the dashboard as well. I thought modern cars should all have these issues resolved by now.

:rotflmao LOL modern cars are crap, especially these. I guess I was hoping I wouldn't run into these kinds of annoyances until I hit at least 10K, but whatever. This car is really just a fun toy and alternate transportation for me.

I'm gona try and lubricate the folding mechanism of the sideview mirror with some silicone spray and see if that helps. Another thing I recently noticed was that on the passenger side front door the rubber grommet that's close to the door lock hinge had some rust around it, which was kind of disheartening it being a new car and all. I took some wd40 on a rag and cleaned it up and then sprayed some around it so it doesn't come back. It did clean up alright, now let's see if it comes back.

I also came across a thread where people were getting rust from gravel getting stuck between the doors and doorsills? and the solution was to put some 3m tape on the doorsills to stop the dirt, debris, gravel from scratching the paint. Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed in the 2013 model Rogues, or is it something else I'm going to have to address. Or should it be fixed by the dealership if there is a TSB on it.

I think the tread you're referring to is this one: clear-bra-paint-protection-film-or-prot ... l?hilit=3m
I know people have complained about the inferior quality of Nissan's painting process. I rather doubt they'll will issue a TSB on it. :frown:

As for the rattling noise, if they didn't tighten a screw, it would vibrate it's way loose over time. You seem to have a few issues with your new ride, chief among them the rattling and rust. You've only had it for a few months, so it has bumper to bumper coverage. If it were me, I'd make an appointment with the place you bought it from and have them address these things. I had an issue with my last Rogue in that the usb port didn't work. Dropped by the local dealership (I had not purchased the car from them) and they determined the head unit was defective. They ordered a new one and installed it under warranty, and all it cost me was the time they spent working on it.

I would think that if enough people went back to the dealership about the problem with how the vehicles are painted, maybe they'll get a clue and try to improve things. Wishful thinking, I know!

Well, seems like I myself have fixed the rust problem of rust at the rubber grommet close to the door latch. Rust was happening there because water was getting in. Upon further inspection (rained here last night) I noticed that the passenger side front door's latch area and grommet area was all wet, even though the door was closed, the water was getting inside there from the top where the door weatherstipping is. The weatherstripping was not installed properly at the corner or the door as the rubber was out of it's housing and curled upwards. I was able to pull the weatherstripping out and put it in it's place and tucked it in firmly. It seems to be seating properly now which will prevent any water from getting in there and going into the door latch or the grommet area.
