So last night I was driving home from a show a heard a distinct rattling noise coming from underneath the car, not sure exactly where yet. It would only rattle under load at around 2500 rpm, below this no rattle and above it nothing also. Please please tell me this isnt rod bearing failure. Im under the impression that if it were id hear it all the time, even at idle. I completely rebuilt the engine last feb so everything is new, all bearings, gaskets, etc. Any info would be appreciated. Oh by the way its the KA24DE. Will post more specific info later today after I inspect it more.

where in the engine bay is it coming from? Like towards the Timing chain? or on the back of the engine? or does it stop when you take it out of gear? put a screwdriver to the engine and the butt of the screwdriver to your ear and try to pinpoint it.

not sure exactly where its comin from as i heard the noise while driving. As i said it only appears under load at approx 2500rpm. Its not the timing chain guides as ive already removed both. Im gonna go and drive it a bit, then get ya'll more info.

Ok, went out and drove around for aboot 15 mins. Did some regular driving, no noise. Did some hard pulls, still no noise. WTF? Not a single peep out of the engine at all! Gonna go and drive it again for a bit longer just to make sure. Checked all my fluids, all normal.

LMFAO, thanks for the input, but I found the problem. Was a loose bracket clanging around. Weird though, it only made noise at 2500rpms.
